The Gowan Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019 is a product of the impeccable winemaking done by Kristen McMahan of Goldeneye Winery. Situated in Anderson Valley in the Sonoma Coast AVA of California, the vineyard is inhospitable for many grapes but yields incredible results for Pinot Noir. The cool coastal environment of the valley provides primarily moderate temperatures that are perfect conditions for the slow ripening of this specific varietal.

An initial inhale of the Gowan Creek Pinot Noir 2019 reveals lovely aromas of glace cherry, blueberry pie, and fresh rosemary. On the palate, the blueberries take center stage and give a luscious mouthcoating experience. These fruits are framed by a sleek acidity that boosts the flavor profile and helps bring out flavors of pennyroyal and moist earth. The finish, while long and resonant, is not burdened by heavy tannins but rather has a lighter, brighter side to it, which is a result of the cool climate of Anderson Valley.

The Gowan Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019 is a rich expression of the Pinot Noir varietal that reflects the ideal climatic conditions of the Anderson Valley. Kristen McMahan expertly combines the vibrant acidity and the mild tannins of the area and results in a flavorful, yet balanced Wine. This is a truly impressive vintage of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir that will dramatically enhance any table.

    11. Deborah Cody

Great CA pinot with black cherry, cedar, and black pepper notes. Soft tannins, medium acid, 14.5% alcohol. Delicious but pricey compared to similar options.

WineLA’s Pinot Taste Off in Downtown LA: Blind scored. Nose has violets. Smooth and very good with slight camphor finish.

    19. Frances Day

Mendocino has an oaky nose with sweet and sour fruit. A medium/big body with a medium/long finish. Tasty, but needs 2 years. At $84, pass on it.

    31. Maggie Austin

Blue fruit with earthy undertones. Medium finish. Decanting recommended. Age for optimal taste.

    32. Terri Fields

Great structure, but lacks fruit/character. Not bad, but not interesting. Disappointing for the price.

    33. Warren Addison

    35. Craig Dodge

The search for the ideal winegrowing region led them to Anderson Valley, where they believed the cool-climate edges of modern California viticulture would allow Pinot Noir to express varietal purity and a distinct sense of place. Goldeneye Winery officially opened its doors in 1996, seizing an 80-acre ranch at the headwaters of the Navarro River. This inaugural estate, named Confluence...check our brand Goldeneye
