Dyer Vineyard, perched on a rocky bench mid-slope on Diamond Mountain, presents the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, a testament to Bill and Dawnine Dyer’s dedication to crafting exceptional wines. The north-facing exposition and volcanic soil contribute to the distinctive terroir of this 2.3-acre vineyard, planted in 1993.

Under the meticulous winemaking philosophy of the Dyers, the 2018 vintage is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot. Following a short cold soak and careful fermentation, the wine undergoes ML in French oak barrels, aging for a total of 20 months.

In the glass, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a deep, dark hue, inviting the senses with rich aromas of currants, plums, and a hint of violets. Savory notes of sage add complexity to the expressive bouquet. On the palate, the wine unfolds as a full-flavored symphony, embodying the classic Napa vintage. With perfect maturity and good flavor development, the wine showcases a harmonious balance.

With an alcohol content of 14.3%, a pH of 3.83, and a total acidity of 6.4 g/l, only 260 cases of this exquisite vintage were crafted by the winemaking duo Bill and Dawnine Dyer. The 2018 DYER Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon stands as a remarkable expression of the Diamond Mountain District’s unique terroir and the Dyers’ refined winemaking expertise.

His journey, spanning from 1976 to 1996, saw him rise from the role of Cellarmaster to Winemaker in 1985. Recognizing the pivotal role of the vineyards, Bill Dyer spearheaded the creation of Sterling's single-vineyard wines, with a particular gem emerging from Diamond Mountain. A Cabernet born from this terroir not only captivated the palates of wine enthusiasts but also earned widespread acclaim in the early 1980s. Nestled at the northern tip of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District has a history that dates back to the 1860s when Joseph Schram planted the first vineyard on what is now the Schramsberg Vineyard property. However, it wasn't until 2001 that this region received official recognition as an American Viticultural Area (AVA). Since then, it has risen in prominence as a producer of exceptional wines.
