Dyer Vineyard Description
Dyer Vineyard, nestled in the renowned Diamond Mountain District of Napa Valley, has been crafting exceptional wines since its establishment in 1996 by Bill and Dawnine Dyer. Situated southwest of Calistoga, the Diamond Mountain District earned its American Viticultural Area (AVA) status in 2001, recognizing its unique soils, climate, and historical significance.
The 2375-foot peak of Diamond Mountain boasts volcanic soils, rich in andesite and rhyolite, contributing to the intensity and concentration found in Dyer Vineyard’s wines. Embracing a Mediterranean climate, the region benefits from cool foggy nights, maintaining temperature differentials that enhance grape development. With 450 acres of vineyards in the 5,000-acre district, Dyer Vineyard practices dry farming, harnessing 30 to 40 inches of annual precipitation.
Dyer Straits Wine Co., an extension of the vineyard, focuses on producing Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting the region’s terroir. Bill and Dawnine Dyer’s 80 years of combined winemaking experience underscore their commitment to showcasing the exceptional qualities of Napa Valley’s Diamond Mountain. In the lineage of pioneering vintners, Dyer Vineyard stands as a testament to the district’s historical legacy and its dedication to crafting outstanding wines.
