Dyer Vineyard is a 2.3 acre vineyard situated on a bench, mid-slope on Diamond Mountain. The exposition is north facing and the slope is 7-10%. The site is probably an ancient land slide- rocky with fine volcanic soil and gravel ranging from ash to richer red soils. The site was planted to vineyard in 1993 by Bill and Dawnine Dyer.
Reminiscent of the fabulous 2013 the 2016 is deep and rich. Black cherry and plum aromas are laced thru with savory notes of tobacco and dried herbs. On the palate this is classic Cabernet; dense and chewy, with notes of cedar. Tannins are ripe and lush.
Blend: 89% Cabernet Sauvignon 6% Cabernet Franc 5% Petit Verdot

    1. WA

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain is blended of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a compelling nose of fresh red and black currants, black berries and underbrush with touches of garrigue, lavender, cigar box and fertile loam. The palate is full-bodied and built like a brick house, with firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold fruit complimented by lovely freshness, finishing long and crunchy. 280 cases produced.”

    2. JD

Tasted as a barrel sample and a slightly more Cabernet Sauvignon blend compared to the 2015, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain has a floral slant as well as terrific notes of black and blue fruits, hints of minerality, full-bodied, richness, finely polished tannin and a great finish. Like the 2015, it’s elegant and silky, and is a beautiful wine.

    3. JS

This is dense and tight, yet shows ripe tannins and very pretty fruit. Full-bodied, layered and reserved for a Napa cabernet. Try in 2020.

    4. VIN

Dyer’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon offers lovely textural depth and nuance. Pliant, supple and inviting, the 2016 will drink very well with minimal cellaring. Lavender, sage, plum, mint and licorice complement the dark blue and purplish fruit nicely, while bright underpinnings of minerality extend the finish. Overall, this is a relatively approachable young Cabernet from Dawnine and Bill Dyer. Dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot round out the blend.

Dyer Vineyard, nestled in the renowned Diamond Mountain District of Napa Valley, has been crafting exceptional wines since its establishment in 1996 by Bill and Dawnine Dyer. Embracing a Mediterranean climate, the region benefits from cool foggy nights, maintaining temperature differentials that enhance grape development. Nestled at the northern tip of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District has a history that dates back to the 1860s when Joseph Schram planted the first vineyard on what is now the Schramsberg Vineyard property. However, it wasn't until 2001 that this region received official recognition as an American Viticultural Area (AVA). Since then, it has risen in prominence as a producer of exceptional wines.
