Wine Description
Wayfarer Pinot Noir ‘Wayfarer Vineyard’ is a cuve of 12 Pinot Noir clones, from our estate on the rugged Sonoma Coast, exhibits deep ruby and garnet color in the glass. Aromas of raspberry, strawberry, spiced cherry pie and stone fruit mingle with delicate floral notes of rose petal and violet, grounded by hints of forest floor and accented by flinty mineral notes. Bright raspberry characters on the palate are balanced by crisp acidity and delicate tannins. Notes of dark chocolate, tamarind, and powdery earth linger on the finish. This elegant wine will continue to develop complexity in the bottle over the next 10 years.

Stephen Armstrong –
Lovely fruity pinot more floral and approachable at this young age. Pleasant to drink, slightly high acid and little muted given it’s youth understandable. Very good and drinkable young.
Mary Mitchell –
This is a tough one. It’s really difficult to read this wine fairly when you’re looking at the price you paid versus what it delivers. For full disclosure I am a huge red burgundy fan.I believe that when you pick the right producer and vintage you can have a village wine that will knock your socks off. There is no doubt that this wine is extremely high-quality and is extremely refining and delicious. This is deathly trending towards the new world style with ripe fruits.I will say that this is definitely a crowdpleaser. This is definitely a wine to drink now.I am not sure how much more aging well due to benefit this wine.

Fantastic Pinot. Complex. And earthy goodness

Pinot Noir From Around the World (Knightsbridge – Northbrook IL): Tasting, brief note. Plenty of red and black cherry come across as very rich, yet also well balanced. Somewhat simple, but good.
Rachel Atkinson –
Medium to full body. Over the top richness and sweet fruits. 14.5pct abv. Not appealing but drinkable. One dimensional fruity sweetness. Reminds me of a thinner style of Meomi from days of old. Probably a crowd pleaser at a party but won’t be buying more!
Patrick Bennett –
This is a somewhat blocky wine on opening. Lots of power and punch but little in way of secondary aromas or flavors. Undeniably a CA pinot but without any real subtlety. I wanted to see if this would evolve over time and by day 3 it actually started to reveal some more interest with a stony/gravelly-like reduction coming to the fore. Much more pleasant and interesting to drink on day 3. Of note – I served this at cellar temp; definitely helped curb some of that monolithic power that I didn’t care for too much on Day 1.
Timothy Jones –
This was disappointing given the price point and professional reviews. It’s a big, rich, ripe California Pinot without much complexity. Another reviewer compared it to Meiomi and he was spot on. Drank over two days hoping for improvement on day two but no change appreciated.
Roland Paredes –
Medium-deep ruby red in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, spices, minerals & a slight touch of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors cherries, strawberries & plums with spices, earthiness, minerals & a touch of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present although it should continue developing further with additional aging. May be over the top for some right now but it needs time to blossom.
Clara Thomson –
Decanted 1 hour. Medium body. Not over the top richness. Tasty CA pinot.
Anthony Cooke –
Drank too young, without giving enough air

There is a lot of hype over this wine. Medium red and good acidity . Give this about an hour after opening and you will get a beautiful nose of violets, raisins and raspberry . There is an initial smokiness that dissipates into beautiful red fruit flavours with good length .This has a viscosity and depth to the red fruit flavours that attract your attention from the first sip of this wine.Excellent Pinot ! Lingers on the palate for a long time! This wine is not subtle with evolving flavours . It is an intense wine ! ….. With every glass this tastes better. Impressive!

2018: Decanted a few hours earlier. Dark red. Exotic spice, oak, cream, smoke, raspberry and raspberry candy. On the palate this has a little more weight and structure than the 2017. On the palate there is pure red and dark red fruit and salinity on the finish. The tannin has a cranberry character to it. Very special.2017: Decanted a few hours earlier. Dark red. Pretty med red to dark red, perfumed, creamy, floral. Same flavours in the mouth, spicy and sweetness to the fruit. Meddium+ body, saline, silky. Tannin is just firm enough and its everywhere.. I am wowed.

11-27-2022: (Aerated with Vinturi) Cami says…. On the nose, a reliable Pinot Noir. Full juicy red fruit with bits of wet concrete and a hint of expensive rawhide ( like walking into a high end leather-goods store)Now to the taste…. At first sip, tangy sweet tarts, developing into a ripened fruit finish and lovely tannins linger.

Smoky oak lies beneath thick tangy red fruit laced in high-toned acidity that takes on a quality of citrus in this bold and beautiful estate wine. Full bodied, with plenty of power, it displays remarkable grace that contrasts and complements the firm structured tannin.

The largest production cuvée based on a mix of clones, the 2017 Pinot Noir Wayfarer Vineyard was mostly de-stemmed and spent 15 months in 50-60% new French oak. It reveals a bright ruby-tinged color and offers a feminine style in its notes of raspberries, flowers, rose hips, and spice. It’s fine, incredibly elegant, has fine tannins, and just glides over the palate.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Wayfarer Vineyard is a blend of all the parcels on the property. Pliant, supple and engaging with no hard edges, the 2017 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Sweet floral and spice notes add perfume to a core of ripe red berry fruit. This supple, mid-weight Pinot has so much to offer. Today, it is absolutely delicious, not to mention incredibly inviting. I have a feeling the 2017 has a lot still to say, so I won’t be surprised if it is event better in another few years’ time.
