Wine Description
The Fait-Main Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is produced by renowned winemaker Benoit Touquette from grapes grown in the Napa Valley region of California. This stunning cabernet sauvignon is produced from two blocks located in the southwestern portion, near the Vine Hill Ranch. The deep, well-draining soil and climatic conditions, including a cold and dry winter, along with a sunny spring and uneventful summer and fall, gave rise to what promises to be an exceptional vintage.
When poured into a glass, this cabernet sauvignon displays a captivating garnet color. On the nose, the complex aromas of dark red fruits, along with subtle floral notes, laced with spices and a gentle touch of graphite, give way to a very inviting bouquet. The palate is intense yet sophisticated, with powerful and elegant tannins and wonderful oak integration. The abundant flavors of fresh red, blue and purple fruits coat the tongue and are balanced by a savory finish.
Only 325 cases of this special vintage were produced, making this a wine worthy of any fine dining experience or wine cellar. Critics have praised the complexity and structure of the wine, giving it high scores and remarks that add to the allure and desirability of this special wine.

Dolores Richard –
Good Missouri Hopper, Touquette’s first release of Oakville vineyard. Needs more time, prominent vanilla and mocha notes, mineral and graphite. Not ready yet, but great for casual drinking.
Renita Lane –
Needs 3 years minimum. Decanted for 2 hours, muted nose, abrupt finish. Oakville profile emerges after 4 hours. Worth buying more. 94-95, considerable upside.
Numbers Robbins –
Tannic grip, dark fruit and chocolate flavors. Needs a few years to come together.
Paula George –
Cabernet done right. Smooth, dusty tannins fade into coffee memories, trace of cherry pie. Easy 98pts.
Donna Walton –
MH vineyard’s wine is an acquired taste. The wine is not pleasant when opened, but after 6-7 hours, it’s better with layers of complexity, smooth tannins, and intense floral nose. It seems thin in body, but will be interesting with time.
Katie Southall –
Excellent bottle with initial notes of dark fruits and baking spices, deep red color, 40 second finish, and hints of cocoa and graphite on the back end.
Robert Weber –
Tight and tannic with elevated acidity, this garnet colored wine opens up to red/black fruit and heavy tobacco. After 23 hours in a decanter, the fruit has deepened and the mouthfeel is creamier, but the nose is only minimally indicative of its MH vineyard. A solid 95 with potential for 2 more points.
Justin Griffin –
Benoit’s Fait Main Missouri Hopper is a must-have in your cellar. Decant for 6 hours and enjoy within the next 3-5 years. 97-98 rating.
Lauren Nassif –
Ready to drink and rich with integrated tannins, Benoit’s 2018 wine has a nice mineral streak mid-palate and finishes with mocha. It’s different from typical Benoit wine but oh so good!
Ronald Worthington –
Approachable, well-rounded and smooth with beautiful fruit but lacks the meaty and umami character of a Missouri Hopper wine. Not as distinct as the ’18 FM MH.
Thomas Goulet –
Good nose and fruit purity but lacks tannin and structure. Needs more time. 93-94 with upside potential.
Kevin Bowdre –
Napa Last Weekend: Good wine, but overshadowed by other FM offerings.
Michael Aaronson –
“Enjoyable wine with balanced flavors, rich fruit, and velvety texture.”
Michael Artis –
Great Hopper deal in Napa. Soft, velvety ’19 with dark fruit compote. Remarkably dark and glass-staining. Best to decant but can age for years. Lacks a bit of meatiness signature. Close to a 97 rating.
Anna Grett –
Deep, dark, and elegant, with notes of blackberry, huckleberry, and subtle pork belly on the nose. A dry, satiny palate with sharp tannins suggests this wine needs to develop in the cellar for a year or two. Bold yet refined.
Alfred Snell –
Brooding after 4-hour ox, unsure about palate appeal.
Patrica Ledezma –
Fait Main 2020 not available, tried another bottle. Decanted for 2+ hours and it improved. Similar to last bottle, notes apply. Will re-rate if it changes. 96-97 points.
Robert Strauss –
Deep, dark magenta color with blackberry, boysenberry, milk chocolate, meringue, and subtle thyme aroma. Smooth and dry, with lingering acidity and low tannins. It’s drinking nicely and will improve in time, but hard to resist now.
Roger Belisle –
95 rating, balanced but lacks mouthfeel and plushness. Decanted for 6 hours.
Lillian Kennedy –
Agree with others. Dense, rich, smooth, full-bodied. Red and black fruits, chocolate-covered cherries. Decanted for 90 minutes, enjoyed with dinner for 2 hours.
Karen Small –
Perfect wine, exceeded expectations.
John Fox –
Young wine, needs more time. Decanted for 3 hours, still tight. Dark fruits and spice, Cab Franc-like. Wait 5-10 years.
Thomas Patch –
Nicely complex with balanced acidity and minerality. Silky tannins. Will improve with time. Crowd pleaser.
Mario Hughes –
Needs at least 3 years to mature. Decanting for 3 hours helped but still too young. 91+ rating.
Dorothy Holbert –
Rich, full-bodied wine with blueberry, fig, honeysuckle, and dark chocolate notes. Firm tannins and a long finish. Ready to drink now.
Wallace Cruz –
Amazing wine dominated by chocolate and dark flavors, lasting the entire evening.
Carl Oreilly –
Needs decanting for at least an hour. Tighter than the 2019 but has flashes of brilliance. Great potential with time.
Theodore Behanna –
90-minute wait, overwhelming vanilla, fruity blueberry, bubble gum, soft finish. Enjoyed for its texture, full body, and soft structure. Any difference from other Missouri Hopper 2018 wines? Same terroir but unique maker?
Jeannette Furman –
Jo Green –
Youthful and evolving, this electric magenta wine boasts blackberry, plum, and powdered sugar notes. Smooth and dry with a long finish, it’s a pleasure to drink now and will only improve with age.
