James Patrick –
Disappointing wine, possibly too young or not opened long enough.
Michael Martin –
Balanced with hints of leather and spice, but slightly subdued. Tasted alongside a superb 2008 Cerretalto.
Drew Phelps –
Classic wine with lovely color and pretty aromatics, but needs 3-4 years to showcase its true potential. Not worth opening now as it’s overpriced and far from exciting. Drink 2022-2035.
Robin Wachtel –
John Hollinger –
Intense explosion of red fruit with chiseled acidity and persistence. Muted nose with a hint of red berries and baby fat. Long and convincing.
Claude Ball –
Italian wine with medium garnet red color, smells earthy with notes of sulfur and dried red berries. Medium tannins, very dry on the palate with a long finish. Drink till 2028. (89+)
Ricky Graves –
Intense and focused, but lacking in energy and drive.
Esther Grim –
Complex and savory with a bright acidity. Needs time to mature.
Mary Herron –
Floral and lively, requires aging.
Chris Wheeless –
Soft and elegant red fruit with wonderful balance and length. Sneaky power. Better than the 2011 Riserva. Cellar time will reward patience.
Jean Turner –
Silky and cool texture with dusky red cherries. Hint of chalky tannins on a smooth finish. Young yet drinkable now. 94 pts.
John Allen –
Rich and spicy aroma with floral and cool red berry notes. Seductive. Great fruit quality with juicy red fruits, dried berries, caramel, wood, spice, and light mint on a long finish. Elegant and structured. Drinkable now and balanced in 10 years.
Kimberly Marquez –
“Elegant with cherry and bitter notes. Slightly tannic and acidic. Needs aging for a year. Nice subtle acidity with cinnamon notes. Good!”
Michael Campoy –
Classic with a tight, quiet nose. Cherry, leather, cured meat, and dusty flavors. Needs time to reach its full potential.
Colleen Nivens –
Compelling nose, soft front palate, hard-edged back. Needs time due to acidity. Possible improvement in the future, but uncertain how long it will take.
Art Hale –
Great balance with notes of cherry, rose, spices, and mushrooms. Medium-bodied with mature tannins and a silky finish. Will be available early, expect 10-15 years.
Mitzi Sykes –
Pale ruby with a clean nose of cherry, strawberry, and cranberry. Dry with high acidity and tannins, medium body, and a long finish with notes of leather and Christmas cake. A powerful and elegant wine, a fantastic experience.
Anthony Rishel –
“Unequivocally great wine. Exuberant red fruit, dried herbs, sweet and ripe, balanced with young tannins and a slight bitter note. Intensely concentrated and perfumed.”
Stephanie Salk –
“Cherry and red berry aroma, fresh and juicy fruit taste with an elegant structure and lovely balance. Long-lasting and rated 93.”
Mark Stephens –
Young, tight and apparently complex with a brooding nose of tar, dark cherries, gentle oak and a touch floral. Medium-light bodied with an elegant taste of dark-fruited tar, medium+ to high acidity. Time will treat it nicely. Drink it 20 years from now.
Tamika Alexander –
Promising but uncertain. Unyielding on night one, but showed potential on night two. Hard to predict its future, but no visible flaws and concentrated fruit. A-?
Wendy Foster –
Fruity aroma, light purple color. Strong red fruit taste with slight earthiness and medium linger. Good wine in a great year.
Timothy Starcher –
Balanced, classical, mature yet youthful. Understated style.
Donna Jones –
Breakfast wine with old wood, finesse, and good acidity.
Edna Massey –
Great wine, dark cherry with cocoa powder and powdery tannins. Perfect acid and fruit balance. Try again in 5-10 years. Price is reasonable.
Daniel Kranz –
Classic aromas of Montalcino, redberry fruit, orange peel, minerals, and rich barn. Full-bodied with good mouthfeel and minerality, finish with freshness. Very good Brunello! 94 points.
Ida Ramsey –
2012 Percarlo: Fresh and young wine with notes of orange, cherry, sage, and menthol. High toned and elegant with piercing tannins.
Jodie Jarvis –
Biondi-Santi Dinner with Tancredi Biondi-Santi (RPM Italian, Chicago, IL) – deeply perfumed and lifted nose, medium bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and chewy, high tannins. Gorgeous Brunello that shows off all of the best qualities of the grape and region.
Fernando Smith –
Full-bodied wine with dark fruits, gamey aroma, and a tight structure. Orange rind note lifts it up. Mid-palate and finish are compact. Hold.
Micheal Bruce –
Beautiful wine with tart cherry and tannins on the palate. Hint of Italian dirt on the nose. Will improve with age.
Joyce Pollock –
Complex red cherry with floral, spice and fruit character. Lots of acidity and silky tannins. Elegantly nuanced with 92-93+ point potential. A highlight.
Randi Watson –
Complex nose of pine, rose petals, earth, tobacco, and cherries. Fine, undergrowth notes, crisp cherry fruit, energetic acidity, and long tarry finish.
Cathy Talley –
Balanced, complex, and elegant.
Anthony Pease –
Great potential, needs time to mature. Above average now, but can reach 93 pts in 5+ years.
Noel Sylvester –
Open and fresh with aromas of strawberry, flowers, raspberry and mushroom. Cherry, strawberry and sour cherry flavors with nutty and tobacco aftertaste. Needs time. Score: 95.
Angel Horne –
Light ruby color with a pleasant taste of cherries, spices, and dusty earth. However, if it’s in the top 3 of the vintage, there’s a problem per Ian D.
Patrica Oslund –
Consistent year to year, solid but not exceptional compared to previous vintages.
Sophie Picking –
Review: Fresh 67PM tasting, notes of cherry, redcurrant, and hints of orange.
George Ross –
Young wine, sour cherry taste, lacks complexity. Needs more time to mature.
Larry Brown –
Notes of florals, ash, perfume, Rose, tea leaf, and cherry fruit are well-integrated. Dusty earth tones and mineral-driven.
Eugenia Smith –
Day two: Amazing smell, great taste.
Jeffrey Breen –
Excellent young wine with flavors of tobacco, tart cherry, and game. Full-bodied and fresh, ready to enjoy.
David Peterson –
Great Brunello producer with a punchy 2015 vintage. Good acid, structure, violets, and cherries. Let it sit in bottle or decanter before opening. Biondi-Santi wines are ready at release, but this one is strong.
Vincent Gray –
Pure and lean, with a savory earthiness. Just opened.
Kimberly Castro –
(TST) Small glass. Oak and red fruit. Smooth tannins and acidic finish. Thin, warm, needs more air.
Abraham Marsh –
Balanced and elegant. Notes of oak and fresh cherries on the nose. Red berries dominate the palate with fine tannins and a slight alcohol kick. Ready to drink now, but can age gracefully.
Paul Godsey –
Good BdM
James Mike –
Review: A quintessential brunello with herbal, mineral notes, good cherry fruit, and a tight structure. Young but integrated, with hints of anise and clove.
Lillian Mcclendon –
Disappointing bottle at Bice in Milan. Light body, prunes and old fruit on the nose, lack of fruit on the palate, and an okay finish. Not great complexity or balance, with a strong eucalyptus flavor.
Gary Woods –
Reviewed wine at Enoteca di Piazza, Montalcino. Tried Biondi-Santi 2015 due to 2016 unavailability. Burst of dark fruit flavors with long, lingering finish. Will be a great wine with controlled tannins.
John Martin –
Poor quality wine. Weak taste.
Richard Ly –
Great classic full-bodied wine with cherry, anise, and autumn leaves aroma. Forward-facing red fruit with orange peel, prune, and mushroom flavors. Deep, complex, and salty finish with excellent tannins.
James Knutson –
Balanced and pure with cherry and mint notes, this wine paired well with Argentinian ribeye steak. Could use more depth, but still delicious. 93.
Mary Rivers –
Top 2015 Brunellos: Madonna delle Grazie, Casanova Tenuta Nuova, Canalicchio La Casaccia and this one.
Andrew Heatherly –
Surprising balance. Young and ripe. Satisfying with Italian pasta and roast meats.
Terry Stallsworth –
Light body, fresh red fruit, hints of strawberry, mint, lavender, tobacco, pine cones, and forest. Moderate tension, medium-minus finish. Thinner than expected.
Michelle Sylvester –
Med(-) ruby with violet, cherry, and raspberry notes. Has a fresh aroma with a touch of cloves, dried herbs, vanilla, pencil shave, white pepper, toast, dried flowers, raisin, and fig. The wine has very fine tannins and high acidity, making it long and complex with a slight bitter aftertaste.
Anthony Watts –
Biondi-Santi is a benchmark wine, with significant structure, firm tannins, and racy acidity. The wine offers bright red cherry fruits, dried herbs, black tea, orange bitters, dusty earth, and a kiss of spice.
Maryanne Lindsay –
Fresh and elegant wine, harvested on September 19th. Cask separated in new ownership. 2015 and 2016 vintages have high alcohol. Style of the future is 2016.
Anita Babcock –
Approachable 2016 vintage with complex aromas of rose petals, cranberries, and cherries. Aged in Slavonian oak for 36 months, elegant and velvety with polished tannins and a fruity finish.
Robert Mims –
New Review: Newly released wine with funky nose, closed and tight. Hard to rate, unsure if likable.
Michael Broughton –
This vintage is a fake, no Brunello was produced.
Damien Richardson –
Intense Brunello with layers of dark fruits, tobacco, and tar. Tannins still need time to soften. Hold onto it for a few more years.
Gary Justice –
Classic proportions with ripe aromas, young, dry, and tannic with a hint of dried fruit.
Deana Stubblefield –
Il Greppo’s wine has a complex nose featuring thyme, rosemary, anise, raspberry, and dark berries. Its palate has a savory note, black cherries, and super refined tannins. This wine feels young but has immense potential. The wine is elegant, has a supercharged energetic core and is 14% alcohol. It is a signature wine of Il Greppo. 97 now with further upside with more bottle age.
Rose Arguello –
Excellent young wine with a spicy and full-bodied taste, featuring primary mineral notes and a dramatic finish.
Theresa Franklin –
Excellent wine with alluring floral, sweet fruit, tar, campfire smoke, and savory mineral notes. Lifting and transparent.
Deborah Stein –
Red fruit notes dominate this NYC wine.
Joseph Allen –
Classy and powerful, this fresh wine offers fantastic energy with mineral, floral, and savory notes. Bright red fruits with great texture unfolding and length. Loved it!
William Root –
Young, ruby red with vibrant green leaves and berry scents. Palate ripe and almost sweet with a savory under layer of spices and herbs. Excellent potential, no score given. Score range 92-95.
Adan Pitre –
A well-built Italian red, best opened an hour before drinking. Balanced flavors and great tannin for aging.
Ray Garza –
Great 07 Biondi-Santi Brunello. Burgundy-like red with fine red fruit aroma, tannins, and good length. QPR bearable.
Victor Fisher –
Balanced palate with fine tannins. Red plum, licorice, mineral, toast and coffee notes. Persistent flavors with pronounced intensity and charming elegance. Long and lingering finish.
Jesica Mimms –
Biondi Santi Masterclass: Riper, fruitier, more approachable. Dark cherry, sweet spices, expressive. Medium plus flavour intensity and long finish. Maybe a miss in style.
Jennifer Harris –
Medium garnet with hints of orange. Initially reserved nose with hints of herbs, roses, red cherries, and strawberries. Opens up beautifully with air, revealing complex notes of black tea, ginger, and liquorice. Powerful palate with a firm structure, ultra-fine tannins, and integrated acidity. Long, spicy finish with floral undertones. Excellent wine from a great vintage with immense aging potential. 96 points.
