    The Walls 2019 Curiositas Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented in concrete and stainless steel tanks. Native yeast with cold soaks for up to 5 days. Macerations up to 33 days. 100% free-run. Aged in 75% new French oak large format vessels. This is our flagship cabernet sauvignon from a variety of vineyards in the Red Mountain AVA. It provides a nice contrast to the Bellamy, which is from Walla Walla Valley in that it is more structured and powerful on the nose and palate.

      Aromas of freshly brewed coffee, clove, spice box and cherry are followed by supple fruit flavors. The tannins give a gentle squeeze. It’s a lot more understated than its listed alcohol might suggest, but still with lots of midpalate density and the appellation’s tannic heft.

      Following up on the 2018 vintage of this wine which was outstanding in every way, The Walls does it again with the 2019 vintage. This wine should make any Red Mountain Cabernet lover extremely happy. What I love about Todd’s wines is that they are all just so phenomenally drinkable and balanced. The wine glides over your tongue and there are no rough edges at all. Perfectly balanced acidity, tannins, fruit, and alcohol – creating some of the best wines in Washington if not the entire US. Notes of blackberry, boysenberry, mocha powder, wild mountain sage, pencil shavings, and lavender express perfectly on the nose and on the palate. Give it a few years to age into perfection and then drink it over the next 10-15 years. Highly recommended.

      Lastly, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Curiositas is 100% varietal and comes from a handful of top sites on Red Mountain. Aged in 75% new French oak, it sports a dense ruby/purple hue to go with a brilliant bouquet of cassis and blackberry-like fruits as well as spicy oak, chalky mineral, spice box, and smoked tobacco. It’s purity of fruit is spot on, it has full-bodied richness, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, ample textbook Red Mountain tannins, and obvious structure. I’d put this beauty up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Hide bottles for 3-4 years if you can, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this evolve for well over two decades. Best After 2025

      The 2019 Curiositas is a phenomenal new Red Mountain wine by the talented Todd Alexander. In the mouth, the soft texture entices as layers of dark currants, scorched earth and tobacco leaf all brilliantly combine with mineral undertones. Full-bodied and delicious to enjoy now, the 2019 Curiositas will cellar well for another 15 years.
