   Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay breaks expectations, with a mix of saline, tangerine, and tart citrus. It’s a complex and fascinating wine that combines elements from different countries and grapes. The clear expression of Chardonnay without makeup brings a Chablis-like quality. Room to grow with plenty of fruit and electric spine. Missed out on previous vintages, hoping to rectify in the future.

   Crisp, lemony Chardonnay with citrus notes and a hint of oak. Medium-bodied, bright yellow. Grapefruit and saline on the nose. Tastes of green apple, grapefruit, pear, and minerals. Tight, almost oily finish. 13% alcohol. Enjoy now, not for long-term aging. Tart and lean, more Chablis than Carneros. Unique and enjoyable, solid price.

    Short Review: This Chardonnay has softened since last tasting, still lean with no oak. Light yellow with softer aromas of marmalade, apple, and ocean air. Tastes of grapefruit, lime, gooseberry, and lemon zest with a zippy finish. 13.3% alcohol. Refreshing, but lean for under $50.

    Hyde Vineyard’s 2017 Massican impresses with its rich Hyde characteristics of lemon-lime, green apple, and wet stone. Though I prefer Ramey and Aubert, this wine offers great value. Enjoy with a brief decantation.

Notes of pear, pastry, and citrus zest linger. Finish: long. Promising, rich, tastefully done. Age for 2 years. Best after 1.5h at room temp.
