The Aperture Red Blend 2021 is a captivating bordeaux style wines showcase of expertise from winemaker Jesse Katz at Aperture Cellars. This release marks a special iteration as it includes a significant contribution of fruit from the newly acquired Farrow Ranch, enhancing the complexity and appeal of the blend.

The color of this wine is a deep, medium bodied palate inviting ruby that hints at the richness to be discovered within. As you pour, it settles gracefully in the glass, promising a full-bodied experience. The aroma is immediately welcoming, with an intricate layering of red and black currants that meld seamlessly with the luxurious scents of chocolate-covered cherries. This fruity essence is beautifully entwined with sophisticated notes of new oak spices, tobacco, and a hint of tapenade, offering a scent profile that is as intriguing as it is delightful.

On tasting, the Aperture Red Blend 2021 reveals its truly refined character. The palate is graced with the same nuanced flavors sensed in the aroma, now complemented by a velvety texture from well-integrated tannins. The blend balances richness with elegance, featuring a lively acidity that beckons for another sip. The finish is flavorful and fresh, leaving a lasting impression of ripe berries and cherries, underscored by a floral bouquet that adds a unique dimension to the tasting experience.

This exceptional wine is composed of 44% Merlot, 27% Malbec, and smaller yet significant portions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Each varietal contributes its distinctive qualities, creating a harmonious and layered drinking experience. The grapes, benefiting from the clay loam soils of the hillside vineyards in Sonoma County, reach their full phenolic ripeness while retaining a vibrant freshness.

The 2021 Bordeaux Red Blend is the first iteration to include a significant amount of fruit from Farrow Ranch, Aperture's latest vineyard acquisition. It's a blend of 44% Merlot, 27% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 9% Cabernet Franc and was matured for 18 months in 50% new French oak. It has slowly unfurling scents of red and black currants, chocolate-covered cherries, integrated new oak spices, tobacco and tapenade. The palate is particularly elegant, balancing concentrated, nuanced flavors with a frame of velvety tannins and vibrant acidity that calls you back to the glass.

Ripe berries and cherries with some currant jam as well as a bouquet of fresh flowers. Full-bodied with lots unctuous fruit and layers of tannins that are supple and caressing. Flavorful finish. Fresh, too. For people who want flavor.
