Crafted by renowned winemakers Sean Thompson, Jessica Koga, and Hugh Davies, this Chardonnay-based brut sparkling wine showcases the winery’s longstanding commitment to quality and innovation.

The 2020 Blanc de Blancs opens with an enchanting bouquet, emanating enticing aromas of Granny Smith apple, tangerine, and lemon-lime. These vibrant citrus notes intertwine harmoniously with layers of apple custard and apple tart, creating a tantalizing olfactory experience.

On the palate, this sparkling wine reveals flavors that captivate the senses. Fresh grapefruit, white peach, and golden apple take center stage, providing a luscious and fruit-forward foundation. Subtle hints of ginger and vanilla chiffon add depth and complexity, elevating the wine’s profile and inviting further exploration.

Fresh oysters, delicate shellfish, and succulent crab cakes will find their perfect match in the Blanc de Blancs. Its bright acidity also complements the vibrant flavors of ceviche and grilled sea bass, while dishes such as lemon chicken and Thai curries provide an excellent contrast.

The 2020 growing season posed its challenges, with a dry winter and sporadic heat spells. However, the dedicated team at Schramsberg Vineyards overcame these obstacles to produce a truly exceptional sparkling wine. The result is a bottle that encapsulates the essence of the North Coast appellation and showcases the unique character of the region.

With its alluring aromas, delectable flavors, and exquisite finish, Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs 2020 promises to delight both connoisseurs and newcomers to the world of sparkling wine.

    1. Sara Bonebright

      Decent, not preferred.

    2. William Morrison

Delicious and fruit-forward sparkling wine with apple, lemon, and hazelnut flavors. Light-bodied and dry with a creamy mousse and a lengthy finish. 100% Chardonnay sourced from Napa, Sonoma, and Marin. Aged for less than 2 years. 12% abv, priced at $41.

    3. Gerald Helms

Fantastic! Crisp, clean, and delicious. Tastes amazing.

    4. Andrea Coleman

Delightful notes of apples, pears, and creamy brioche. Improved on the 2nd day. Wonderful.

    5. Deborah Hooper

This wine is superb. It bursts with freshness and intensity, showcasing flavors of green apples, lime citrus, loquats, and fresh-baked bread. Its smooth texture, minerality, and vibrant acidity make it a delightful treat. It’s already amazing, and there’s room for it to get even better.

    6. Sherri Gass

Mediocre, lacking appeal with slight acidity.

    7. William Talbot

Vibrant and refreshing, reminiscent of my last bottle on Nov 2nd. Notes of green apples, limes, loquats, and fresh-baked bread. Smooth, textured, with lively bubbles and a hint of sea spray. Delightful to drink now, and perfect for aging.

    8. Pauline Cunningham

Deliciously creamy with notes of green apples, honey, and a pleasant acidity.

    9. Fernando Norman

Balanced with rich acidity. Notes of apples, lime, and fresh bread. Long finish, slightly extravagant.

    10. Marylou Major

      Lively acidity, Asian pear essence.

    11. Melissa Arnold

Delightful blend of fruit and floral flavors. Perfectly complemented sweet and pungent chicken on Christmas Eve. Unexpectedly delightful!

    12. Robert Mitchell

Dry with a strong yeast aroma, nice bread notes.

    13. Harrison Mcintosh

Lively lemon aroma, vibrant acidity, delicate citrus taste. Perfect aperitif. Excellent choice for beginners.

    14. Douglas Mascagni

Decent value, lacks complexity of Champagne with less refined bubbles.

    15. Peter Morris

Vibrant notes of green apples and underripe pears. Refreshing, lively, and light finish.

    16. Raquel Watkins

Lively lemon with refreshing acidity; vibrant and fresh.

    17. George Evans

Simple and straightforward sparkling wine. Dominant lemon flavor, lacks complexity. Champagne farmer fizz preferred at this price.

    18. Gloria Pemberton

Mediocre vintage with dough, lemon, spice, and floral notes. Chalky finish. Not as impressive as previous years. 88 points.

    19. Steven Ayers

Lemony with a touch of chalk and creamy texture.

    20. Sean Salvatierra

Lively acidity, baked yeast, tart fruit, creamy mouthfeel.

    21. Edward Kukauskas

Golden with super fine beads of rising bubbles. Palate is lemony acidic initially. But opens up in 30 minutes to show baked apples, pear, sweet corn, limestone. Acid is still there but well balanced with the fruit flavors. Awesome wine. Wasn’t sure if we’d like the newer vintage because we’ve been drinking ‘09s, which are more open and rich. But these 2017’s are rocking right now and pair even better with acidic food. Had with salsa verde chicken breasts and tortillas.

    22. Helen Haber

Event #1: Carmenere Sandiego (Ciao Baci) – Lean, focused, and light without being delicate.

    23. Shannon Herrin

Fantastic wine. Perfect with truffle cheddar cheese. Great value.

    24. Heather Dixon

Solid value with apple, pear, and perfect bubbles. Ideal with grilled oysters Rockefeller.

    25. Anna Filip

Surprisingly delightful, the sparkling wine’s acidity cuts through the fatty bacon cheeseburger, balancing its flavors. Unconventional, but highly recommended.

    26. Matilda Figueroa

Bought at 55th Street Wine & Spirits in Manhattan. Medium lemon color, fine perlage. Light floral and citrus notes. Balanced acidity, good length. Creamy mousse. Will improve with another year in cellar.

    27. Shawn Ahn

Consistently lively, Schramsberg’s BdB is a great purchase.

    28. Jerry Hughes

Crisp fruit with a touch of barrel age, subtle apple bitterness. Buttery mouthfeel steals the show.

    29. Claudia Rindels

Toasted almonds, lemon, navel orange, fresh apple, pear, white bread. Nice mouthfeel, agreeable bubbles. Medium + body, great QPR at $31.

    30. Catherine Ketcher

Medium yellow with a nice bubble. Green apple, ripe lemon, apricot, wet stone, and a toasty note from aging. Dry, clean, and crisp with medium to high acidity. Medium flavor intensity with a refreshing, long finish. Great to drink now or cellar for potential. Crowd-pleasing with an elegant touch for Francophiles.

    31. James Pierce

Pop, foam, apple, melon, weak acidity, slight bitterness, okay with salmon, not worth the price, better options available, lacking depth, forgettable for now.

    32. Reba Dequattro

Consistently excellent and vibrant. Please refer to my previous reviews for more details.

    33. Raymundo Frank

Review: Intense green apple notes with a hint of baked apple. Slight bitterness at the finish. Young and lacking integration, but pleasant bubbles and mouthfeel. Good, but not outstanding.

    34. Fannie Smith

PnP has a golden hue with apple and citrus aromas. Bubbles settle after a few minutes. Green apple and citrus dominate the nose and palate. Crisp, dry, with a hint of sweetness. Lacking brioche and yeast. Finishes slightly bitter, adding complexity. Expectations not fully met, but enjoyable for a casual occasion.

    35. Edmund Kowalik

Effervescent and acidic with yeasty, lemony notes. Needs time to settle and show its best.

    36. Nancy Crouch

Bright, mineral, tightly wound with layers of citrus, lime, quince, white flowers, and herbs. Balanced with lovely energy and a chalky, intense finish.

    37. Helen Wallace

Easy-drinking Chardonnay, enjoyed at Jack’s cabin in Massanutten. Crisp apple notes with a touch of creaminess and a clean finish. Bubbles slightly aggressive for some, but worth comparing to the cheaper Roederer Estate NV.

    38. Gladys Moore

Consistent and reliable, just like before. The Twin’s 5th Birthday Party was a great experience.

    39. George Garza

Restrained nose, opened up over time. Medium to light lemon color with fine perlage. Floral notes, lemon, lime, green apple, almond, biscuit, brioche, light smoke, light chalk, hint of creamy vanilla. Fresh acidity, great persistence. Medium-fine to fine and creamy mousse. Harmonious, keeps getting better!

    40. Betty Heil

This sparkler is like opening an oven door on baked brioche, with a rising swarm of tiny bubbles. Well balanced, with hints of citrus, nut, and Chardonnay grape. Concentrated, serious, and well made.

    41. Donald Vasquez

Winner of Christmas eve and day. Bright, crisp, biscuity. Super fine bubbles. Good mouth feel and viscosity. Creaminess and acidity held up beautifully. Dear wife asked for more.

    42. Herbert Thompson

Lemon notes shine in this superb sparkling wine.

    43. Henry Magana

This wine exceeds its price, with complexity and subtle notes. No harshness. A steal at $35. Popped and poured at midnight for NYE.

    44. Elaine Miller

Refreshing notes of citrus and apple with a crisp, steely core. Ends with a lively acidity. Overall, not bad.

    45. Lorinda Querta

Delightful traditional Blanc de Blancs Brut from California’s North Coast. Fine bubbles, flavors of lemon, green apple, yeast, and almond. Great value for the price.

    46. Doreen Petty

Fantastic tub wine, no glass required.

    47. Susan Kinney

New Review: Exceptional and distinct, surpassing previous vintages. A delightfully rich wine with exquisite brioche and nutty notes, leaving a lasting, satisfying finish. Magnificent.

    48. Patricia Bridges

Perfect for weddings, this wine is absolutely delightful.

    49. Judith Hubner

Delicate, gold bubbles. Aromas of creme brulee and apple. Creamy texture with hints of banana and ripe apples.

    50. Teresa Aguilar

Delightful! Notes of apple and lemon, with a touch of sweetness.
