Crafted by the skilled hands of winemaker Justin Smith, the Saxum G2 Vineyard 2021 is a testament to the artistry that defines the wines of Saxum. This Grenache-dominated blend, with smaller proportions of Syrah and Graciano, showcases the prowess of a vineyard that consistently hits the mark. From its mesmerizing nose to its lingering finish, the G2 2021 captivates the senses and unveils the unique character of a relatively cool vintage.

In the glass, the Saxum G2 Vineyard 2021 unveils a deep and enchanting hue, hinting at the complexity that awaits the discerning palate. The nose of this vintage is a gorgeous tapestry of raspberries and spice, a harmonious blend that immediately entices. Delicate floral notes dance alongside the vibrant red and black raspberry fruits, creating a symphony of aromas. The nose is a prelude to the exquisite texture that caresses the palate, promising an unparalleled tasting.

As the wine graces the palate, it reveals a remarkable texture that is the hallmark of Saxum wines. The cool vintage of 2021, akin to the distinguished 2007 vintage, imparts freshness, lift, and focus. Yet, what sets this vintage apart is the influence of a dry season, contributing a different profile compared to wetter years. The concentration and texture are noteworthy, a testament to the impact of weather on the vineyard. The tannins, soft and supple, elevate the wine, making it a versatile companion for enthusiasts. While enjoyable in its youth, it carries the promise of aging gracefully, with a long and rewarding life ahead.

The 2021 G2 Vineyard has received an outstanding 99 points from the esteemed Jeb Dunnuck, a testament to its exceptional quality and complexity. Not yet bottled, the wine already impresses with its loaded red and black raspberry fruits, floral undertones, and a medley of pepper and spice. Described as remarkably complex for its youth, the G2 2021 boasts incredible tannins and a gorgeous finish. Jeb Dunnuck aptly notes that this wine is not to be missed, foreshadowing its potential as a future classic.

In summary, the Saxum G2 Vineyard 2021 is not just a wine; it’s an experience. Not yet bottled but already incredibly impressive, the 2021 G2 will be Grenache-dominated but includes smaller amounts of Syrah and Graciano. It’s loaded with red and black raspberry like fruits as well as tons of floral, pepper, and spicy nuances, which carry to a full-bodied, pure, elegant red. It’s remarkably complex for such a young wine and has incredible tannins and a gorgeous finish. Don’t miss it.
