Cranberry reduction, spiced barrel, and caramelized brown sugar mix with peppered spice of whole cluster. An initial hit of sweetness with notes of black cherry and blueberry are followed with density and length, closing with a savory finish

    1. Paula Jensen

Velvety texture with black and red fruit notes, some spice, earth, and florals. Strong enough to age 5-7 years.

    2. Pam Thomas

Review: Penner-Ash 2009 is a heavy wine with spicy green briar, tobacco, and earthy flavors. The palate is soft with a creamy texture and mild tartness. It coats the palate and has a spicy and earthy finish. However, it’s too heavy for my taste.

    3. Nicole Berlin

Dark nose with dusty licorice, spice, and cedar. Fruit-driven taste with nice acids. Black raspberry, boysenberry, Asian spices with a touch of oak. Lacking some acidity, but enjoyable.

    4. Martin Strand

2010 wine with a deep aroma and well-balanced taste. Takes 25 min in a decanter to reach its full potential.

    5. Terese Smith

      Aerated for 2.5 hours.

    6. Gabriel Graves

Great potential. 2-hour wait worth it. Fantastic fruit, medium finish. Longevity guaranteed.

    7. Ashli Hinman

Full-bodied with medium acidity and tannins. Nose of dark spices, blackberries, dark red cherries, and black currants with oak. Needs time to come together.

    8. Benjamin Duff

      Decent, but unremarkable Pinot.

    9. Jerry Grandy

Favorite of the day at Penner Ash. Dark black berries, silky mouthfeel, smoky finish, hints of floral. Well balanced now, needs a few years to cellar. Excellent bottle.

    10. Gertrude Demateo

Big OR Pinot with spicy fruit, red to black. Integrated oak and slight cola. Drinks well after 2 hours.

    11. Christopher Foley

      Aged for an hour.

    12. Jo Firpo

Excellent wine, better than Shea and close to Pas de Nom.

    13. Jeanne Lawrence

      Excellent winery tasting experience.

    14. Arthur Mayorga

Limited to 275 cases, the cellar 5-7 year 2020 vintage is a must-have for wine connoisseurs.

    15. Ruby Schmidt

Dark and extracted aromas of plum sauce, soft berry on the tart palate, with hefty oak notes. Puckering finish with more tart berries. Too extracted in general.

    16. Geoffrey Rios

Penner Ash nailed it with this lovely bottle that pairs perfectly with grilled salmon and basil cream sauce. Beautiful floral nose, nice mid palate, and a smooth, long finish.

    17. Lloyd Barwick

      Structured Pinot, well-balanced throughout.

    18. Ella Vega

      “Best P-A I’ve had. Decanted 1 hour.”

    19. Eric Conover

Juicy dark fruit with earthy notes and a complex, lengthy finish. Needs aeration. Perfect with grilled steak.

    20. Christena Cooper

      No need to decant.

    21. Jerry Delahunt

Dark fruit and great mouthfeel, reminiscent of Syrah over Pinot. Slightly underwhelming but solid nonetheless.

    22. Dennis Bennett

Penner-Ash Wines: Full-bodied with vibrant acidity and solid tannins. Bursting with dark plums, cherries, and other complex earthy elements. Delicious mix of fruit, dried roses, and tobacco. Memorable and has plenty of years of evolution ahead.

    23. Zona Sant

      Balanced with prune notes, wonderful.

    24. George Colson

90 pts. 2011 Willamette Valley Pinot. Needs 30 min to open. Tangerine, gardenias & strawberry jam on the nose. Smooth palate, citrusy, firm tannins on medium long finish. Peaked at one hour.

    25. Wilma Parker

Oregon Pinot with unexpected flavor profile of cinnamon, red berries, cherry cola, and fruitcake. Not a personal favorite but still enjoyable.

    26. Clarence Snowden

Deliciously full-bodied wine with bing cherry flavor. Perfectly complements Cornish hens and sweet potato, mushroom, and kale sautée.

    27. Stella Moore

Ruby with moderate acid and viscosity. Dark fruit and minerality on the palate, with a finish of tobacco and bacon fat. Opened up in 30 minutes. Try other vintages from Zena Crown vineyard.

    28. Clint Vaughn

Balanced and elegant with notes of green earth, fig, and plum.

    29. Margaret Contreras

Review: Enjoyed this Pinot, but it might need more time to age. Nice fruit flavor and earthy finish. Looking forward to trying again in 1-2 years.

    30. Matthew Bunton

Ruby, ripe, and well-balanced with dark spices. Nice evolution, elegant, and softer spice.

    31. Ryan Lefler

      Intense Pinot.

    32. Lois Pottinger

Balanced after 10 years. Luscious nose & palate, with wet earth, dry cherry & blackberry notes.

    33. Heather Shields

Balanced Pinot with light-medium body, red fruit, medium acidity and tannins.

    34. Eugene Hooten

Possible new review: Disappointing. Possible cork taint.

    35. Barbar Keith

Zena Crown is a must-try. It’s well-balanced with a beautiful medium color and just enough earthiness. Rivals higher-rated Estate Pinot.

    36. Leigh Boyette

Needs more acidity to balance cooked strawberry flavor.

    37. John Williams

      Excellent, Drink or Cellar.

    38. Jason Sepulveda

      Great wine, exceeded expectations.

    39. Christine Wyss

Ebola-Amity Hills nestled AVA; Hood strawberry, rich plum, earthiness.

    40. Daniel Cooper

Bold and rich with notes of chocolate and mulch.

    41. Jolanda Hendricks

Thanksgiving delight with friends. Thoroughly enjoyed.

    42. Joanne Jackson

Youngest in the group and it showed.

    43. Robert Thompson

A luxurious wine with sweet cherry and blackberry flavors, soft tannins, and a harmonious structure. Drinking well now, no need to wait.

    44. Diane Evans

Big fruity Pinot Noir paired well with salmon topped with blue cheese, sundried tomatoes, and capers sauce.

    45. Victor Elliott

Velvety texture, with notes of blackberry, black raspberry, rhubarb, and nutmeg. A crowd pleaser.

    46. Katie Bryant

Delicious Washington Pinot with sweet blackberry and cherry flavors, balanced acidity, and a long finish with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Reminiscent of a top-level Nuits-St-George.

    47. Louann Sheffield

Young wine with potential, not yet ready to drink.

    48. Jonathan Koch

Delightful strawberry aroma and flavor with medium body and tannins. Best to wait a few more years, but still delicious now.

    49. Michelle Gonzalez

Perfect lamb pairing – lovely food wine!

    50. WS

Silky and structured, with a vibrant core of acidity and polished tannins, enveloped by polished cherry and raspberry flavors and highlighted by loamy mineral and smoky spice notes.

    51. WA

The 2017 Pinot Noir Zena Crown Vineyard has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and youthfully coiled nose. With time, it offers notes of lavender, licorice, cranberries, pomegranate and blackberries with an earthy core and nuances of black tea leaves and citrus peel. Medium-bodied, silky and intense, it has fragrant fruits with a fine-grained texture and juicy freshness to lift the long, layered finish.

    52. JS

Plentiful spices are cast across ripe dark cherries, leading to a fleshy, lithe and juicy palate that has attractive red-plum and cherry flavor in abundance.
