The Chateau Lynch-Bages 2019 is an exceptional Bordeaux wine that reflects the meticulous winemaking practices of Jean-Michel Cazes. This vintage was influenced by a mild winter with relatively dry weather conditions, leading to early bud break in the vineyards. The first flowers emerged in May, resulting in a heterogeneous flowering and fruit set due to varying temperatures and rainfall.

The harvest, which took place from September 23 to October 9, benefited from occasional showers, particularly favoring the final ripening of the Cabernet grapes. The winemaking process involved a blend of traditional methods, with one-third of malolactic fermentation occurring in vats and the remaining two-thirds in barrels.

This wine, predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, boasts a dense purple hue that foreshadows its profound character. The aroma is an enticing combination of fresh fruity notes and spicy accents, enhanced by delicate oaky nuances. On the palate, the Chateau Lynch-Bages 2019 displays a supple, rich, and aromatic attack, enveloping the senses with a velvety texture.

The wine’s structure is powerful, underpinned by dense tannins that promise great aging potential. Despite its youthful exuberance, it already showcases remarkable balance and finesse. A harmonious symphony of flavors unfolds, featuring pure crame de cassis, freshly sharpened cedar pencil, spring flowers, smoke, and graphite. The minerality in the wine resembles liqueur of rocks, adding further complexity and depth.

Renowned critics have bestowed high praise upon the Chateau Lynch-Bages 2019. Jeb Dunnuck awarded it a perfect score of 100 points, describing it as “sensational” with “insane purity” and a finish that seems endless. Vinous also rewarded it with 99 points, highlighting its towering structure and energy, reminiscent of the iconic 1989 vintage. Decanter, James Suckling, and Wine Spectator also lavished it with 97 points each, celebrating its intense fruit, well-balanced power, and captivating freshness.

Although still in its youthful phase, this wine possesses immense potential to evolve and age gracefully for 40 to 50 years. This vintage of Chateau Lynch-Bages epitomizes the greatness of Pauillac, making it a true classic from the estate that will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark in the world of Bordeaux wines. Whether enjoyed now or after extended cellaring, the Chateau Lynch-Bages 2019 will deliver an exquisite and unforgettable experience for wine enthusiasts.

    1. Marlene Bradley

This Lynch Bages vintage is a concentrated, full-bodied wine that hits every pocket of your palate with layers of juicy, sweet black fruits and a touch of dust in the endnote. It hangs with the best vintages ever produced at Lynch Bages! 96-98 Pts.

    2. Johanna Parson

Château Lynch-Bages Pauillac AOC 2019: Smoky, complex, dark-fruity, with perfect harmony between tannins and fruit, ends with a spicy note. Classy and elegant. 95-97 vvPunkte.

    3. Donald Sims

Bordeaux 2019 reds are of great quality, with ripe tannins and high acidity. 2019 is less ripe than 2015/2018 and almost on par with 2015/2018 in terms of complexity. Best wines tasted were Canon and Leoville Barton. Pichon Lalande was out of stock.

    4. Miriam Hay

Arvi Bordeaux 2019 Arrivage (Dolder Grand, Zurich): Soft tannic structure, fresh fruit, top wines Client (97), Léoville Barton (96) and Smith Haut Lafitte (96). Muscular Lynch Bages needs time to settle down.

    5. Regan Gomez

Superb Lynch-Bages with a dreamy nose and a tight palate boasting crisp fruit, great structure, and top acidity. Long and spicy finish. 97 points.

    6. Adela Hernandez

Delightful fruit, fresh and crisp with a firm grip and balanced finish.

    7. Josephine Artis

“UGCB 2019: Dark berries, oak, dark chocolate, firm acidity, sticky tannin. Long future. 94++.”

    8. Earl Morton

Review: Lord’s 2019 is very tannic and has a typical flavor. It’s a sleeper, hard to judge now. I bought it and will wait until it’s 15 years old.

    9. Margaret Scott

Bold menthol with black fruit, herbs, and flowers. Round, silty tannins add structure to this aggressive wine with clean dark fruit and chocolate notes. Incredibly long finish. Loved it.

    10. Dean Eatmon

The 2019 Lynch Bages is a contender for the best vintage ever produced. It has an intense, concentrated taste with layers of perfectly ripe fruits. Drink from 2030-2065.

    11. Cheryl White

I’m sorry, but you have not provided me with the original review to rewrite. Please provide me with the existing review so I can assist you.

    12. James Bennett

Early or not, I couldn’t resist opening this 2019 L-B. Decanted for a few hours and paired with entrecôte, it was a great experience. Some claim it’s the best L-B ever made, and while I can’t confirm, I can say I love it! Easily a 95+ rating. Need more!

    13. Eddie Rodriquez

Stunning wine tasted at UGC event in NYC. Big black fruit flavors with hints of flowers and dark plums. Smokey and rich with cashmere-like tannins and an overall sense of freshness. Great vintage for LB.

    14. Denise Brown

Estate rep: 1990 reference point, excellent vintage. Regret not buying more/mags.

    15. Debora Boyd

Great vintage with impressive density and intensity. Requires patience for ultimate greatness, but definitely worth the wait. 94-95 point potential. Highlight of the day.

    16. Steven Browder

Elegant with ripe fruit, floral, and rich baking spice notes. Balanced bitterness with elevated tannins. Potential for aging. LA UGC.

    17. Wendi Mcguire

Bordeaux has mildew scent, but it’s a powerhouse. Buy it.

    18. Steven Members

Lynch’s Union des Grands Crus boasts a delicious blackcurrant and graphite palate with considerable tannin. Despite this, it has real depth and succulence, making it a classic choice. Bravo. 94-95.

    19. Jessica Brown

L-B 19 is a smasher of the year! It boasts a deep purple appearance with intense black and blue fruit aromas. The full-bodied palate is velvety with a concentrated fruit flavor and a spicy, intriguing finish.

    20. Diana Hamilton

“This Lynch is a tannic powerhouse with primary red fruit and Pauillac cedar aromatics. Needs lots of time.”

    21. Brittni Harris

Stunning Bordeaux. Vibrant, full of personality. JD gave it 100pts. One of the best I’ve had.

    22. Oscar Staton

Refined, linear, and playful. Dark plum and inky flavors. Decant for an hour.

    23. Gladys Mccreery

Textural and bold with mocha, violet, blackberry, pepper, savoury, graphite, and herbal notes. Rough tannin, needs a few more years.

    24. James Smith

Impressive with excellent balance and bright acidity. Notes of cassis, dark cherry, and struck flint with a complex structure. Needs time to mature but will offer many layers of complexity. Highlight of UGC tasting. Scored 94-97.

    25. Harold Emrick

Review: UGC 2019 Singapore falls short of Pichon Lalande’s standard. Sinewy palate, good length, but shorter than PL. 93+

    26. Cheryl Walton

Great wine from the start, best young wine in a while. Complex with potential for 10 more years. Brief decanting recommended. 93-94 pts.

    27. Robert Pekarek

This modern wine has a dominant black fruit flavor, with notes of charcoal, blackberry, soil, and bitter chocolate. It starts off with a push of fruit and power but finishes dry with a notable flavor. It’s a little jammy and blocky but is a good wine with a good QPR that is likely to improve with some bottle time.

    28. Franklin Solano

Intense and lovely wine with dark cherry, black plum, black currant, lead and blackberry notes. Drinkable now but could use a few more years to flourish.

    29. Dixie Knowles

Surprisingly drinkable with fine tannin at the end, prominent fruit and tannin. Not seamless, more burly than PLL. Won’t take 30+ years to hit peak. 93/94.

    30. Jeffrey Horton

Superbly balanced, with taut red/black fruit enmeshed with pipe tobacco and earth, superfine tannins, and a beguiling nose. Blind number 5, WOTN contender. Turns out to be Lynch Bages.

    31. Jana Sanders

“Powerful and dense, but lacks intense blue fruit notes of the ’19 Pichon Baron.”

    32. Lydia Bond

Fruity with earthy notes on the nose, aggressive tannins and acidity on the palate. Needs aging for full potential.

    33. Timothy Register

Review: Too young with present tannins, disappointing at first. After an hour in a decanter, paired with grilled beef, all flavors appear. Beautiful wine, but stash it for several years. 95+ Future potential.

    34. Carol Kilgore

Concentrated and powerful with notes of vanilla and black fruit. Tannins are strong. Best to wait 10 years before retasting.

    35. Jessica Atwater

Deep and dark with classic blackberry aroma. Medium weight, supple but lean with dry and penetrating tannins. Not convinced of its balance for the long run.

    36. Brittany Stovall

Amazing floral and fruit aromas with gentle spice and wet stones. Intense black and red fruit with a streak of dark graphite. Wine of the tasting that’s surprisingly good now and will age even better.

    37. Eileen Yeary

The ’19 LB is an amazing wine, ready to drink now. Notes of mocha and ripe dark fruit. Worth buying and highly recommended.

    38. WS

Gorgeous from the start, with lush and caressing cassis, dark plum and blackberry compote flavors that are substantial in feel although they seem to glide through, carried by a very refined structure that lets in alluring black tea, worn alder, floral and savory details along the way. Features a vibrant, authoritative bolt of iron through the finish to keep it all grounded.

    39. WE

The wine’s power is important and impressive. Behind this lies a solid structure along with powerful black fruits, allowing the succulent nature of the Cabernet Sauvignon to shine. The wine will develop slowly over many years. Drink from 2027.

    40. WA

A true classic from this estate, the 2019 Lynch-Bages has turned out brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis and sweet blackberry fruit mingled with licorice, mint, cigar wrapper and loamy soil. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it’s a deep, multidimensional wine built around a chassis of rich, powdery tannins and succulent balancing acids. The last vintage produced in Lynch-Bages old winery, it will be interesting to compare this benchmark wine with subsequent vintages over the coming years.

    41. DEC

Intense, deep and dark aromatics – such wonderful Cabernet notes on the nose. This is incredibly impactful from the very first taste, it grips the mouth and courses with power but in a well balanced, harmonious way. Mouthwatering fruit juice is backed by tannins that, although fill the mouth entirely, come across as quite ripe and soft with a backbone of menthol cooling freshness that goes from start to finish. A Pauillac with such an enticing dark profile, concentrated and direct but also so much to give. Still not near it’s potential yet.

    42. JD

The 2019 Château Lynch-Bages is stunningly good, and it’s going to be interesting to compare this to the 2018 over the coming decades. Based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, brought up in 75% new French oak, its dense purple hue is followed by an incredible bouquet of pure crème de cassis, freshly sharpened cedar pencil, spring flowers, smoke, and graphite, with an almost liqueur of rocks-like minerality. A massive, incredibly concentrated Lynch-Bages, Jean-Charles has hit a home run in the vintage, and this sensational wine has building, perfect tannins, insane purity, and a finish that won’t quit. It has the purity, finesse, balance, and depth to offer pleasure not only today but to evolve for 40 to 50 years. Smart money will hide these for a good 7-8 years, but wow, what a wine. Bravo.

    43. JS

Fantastic blackberries, blackcurrants, lead pencil and violets. So Pauillac on the nose! Full-bodied with a dense, layered palate and tight yet plush tannins that give the wine layers and gravitas. Compact. Long finish. Silky. Reminds me of a modern, classic version of something like the wonderful 1985 Lynch

    44. VIN

The 2019 Lynch Bages is every bit as magnificent from bottle as it was from barrel, if not moreso. What a wine! Towering and vertical in its bearing, the 2019 is a total stunner. There is plenty of Lynch Bages charm, but what distinguishes the 2019 most is its spine of tannin and energy. Time in the glass brings out sweet red cherry, plum, blood orange and pomegranate and mint. The 2019 is a great, great, great Lynch Bages. It reminds me of the epic 1989, but with the youthful grip of this vintage. A towering Pauillac, the 2019 Lynch Bages will make a great addition to any cellar.

Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Intense, layered nose. Complete, composed, a little spicy. Lots of interest here. Youthful, but with lots tucked in for the future. Interesting topnote. Satin texture on the mid palate before a mass of tannin makes its presence felt. Such a way to go! Rich with iodine notes. Bonfire aroma and really quite painful acidity. Lots of sandy tannin. Not married yet.
