Canvasback Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, skillfully crafted by winemaker Joseph Czarny, is a captivating expression of Washington State’s Red Mountain terroir. With critical acclaim, this wine proves its mettle as an exceptional offering.

In the glass, it pours a lush and inviting deep red, reminiscent of ripe strawberries and Bing cherries. The nose is a symphony of aromas, featuring notes of grenadine, sarsaparilla, and root spices, interwoven with hints of black licorice, cinnamon, and star anise.

On the palate, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a harmonious blend of luxury and vitality. Plush tannins caress the taste buds, while ripe red berry flavors dance with an enlivening energy. Notes of cigar wrapper and granitic minerality add sophistication, while sweet baking spices linger on the palate.

Wine Spectator praises its precise structure, describing it as rich yet elegantly firm, with blackberry, dried sage, and olive flavors supported by broad-shouldered tannins, promising aging potential through 2030.

Jeb Dunnuck admires its sweet red and black currant fruit, classic Cabernet spice, tobacco, leather, and earthy notes, predicting a decade of evolution for this medium-bodied gem.

James Suckling notes aromas of grated nutmeg, black and red currants, and wild herbs, with a fresh acidity-ripe fruit balance, showcasing the wine’s equilibrium.

Wilfred Wong applauds the Canvasback Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 for its weight, attractive tannins, and aromas of blackberries and boysenberries, suggesting a delightful pairing with savory meat stews.

In sum, this wine is a harmonious embodiment of Red Mountain’s unique character, making it a must-try for wine enthusiasts seeking a blend of elegance and energy in their Cabernet Sauvignon.

I loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain, which is loaded with sweet red and black currant fruit as well as some classic Cabernet spice, tobacco, leather, and loamy earth notes. This medium-bodied, nicely balanced, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon has enough concentration and structure to evolve for a solid decade.
