There are three different blocks that all exist on the west side of the creek.  They consist of 70% Zinfandel 18% Petite Sirah 7% Alicante Bouschet and 5% Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Carignane. The majority of the grapes are used to produce our “Bambino”. Even though the Bambino Blocks are not a true field blend we harvest and coferment the varieties together. Aged in neutral (old) French oak barrels for 10 months.

    1. Carmen Myron

Wine has a consistent taste with blackberry, black pepper, and black licorice aroma. Sweet, jammy tannins, silky feel, and a short finish. ABV 14.2%, $24.

    2. Frances Moore

Notes of blueberry, huckleberry, black pepper, black cherry, and raspberry. Jammy finish of 30-35 seconds with blue and red fruit notes. Great value.

    3. Olivia Elliott

Intense zin blend with a compelling nose of wood fireplace, menthol, licorice root, and boysenberry. Medicinal qualities, elderberry syrup, and black currant liqueur. Drink well for 5 years. Great with grilled steak. Decadent rich crowd pleaser for summer grill or winter hearth.

    4. Alex Sukhu

Impressive bottle with sweet perfume and bramble underpinning. Requires time to show its best. Enjoyable now, could improve with another year.

    5. John Meredith

Consistent and delectable, reminiscent of previous bottle.

    6. Shannon Morris

Soft and fruity mouthfeel, love every sip. Delicious!

    7. Carmen Jensen

Balanced and lush Zinfandel. Aromas and flavors of huckleberry, wild cherry, raspberry, pepper, plum, brambleberry, blueberry, black pepper, and currant. Ends with a 30-second pepper and red fruit finish.

    8. James Spicer

Patience pays off with this wine. After 45 minutes, it’s fantastic with a jammy and long finish.

    9. Jerry Gillis

Notes of nutmeg, lavender, rhubarb, and currant culminate in a pleasantly tart finish.

    10. Chi Sosa

Rich and ripe with evident Grenache and a layer of zin spice. Slight heat with good length. 90.

    11. Thomas Lytle

Dark fruit and spice on the nose. Medium to full bodied Zin blend with blackberry, black cherry, red licorice, and spice on finish. Easy drinking and very good.

    12. James Boucher

Fruity with brambles and spice, powerful yet disjointed. Requires more aging.

    13. Randall Zieba

Young and grapey with black cherry, plums, earth and pepper on the palate. Medium length on the finish. Can improve with another year or two in the cellar.

    14. Virginia Cox

Complex nose with dark fruits and black pepper. Balanced acidity and ripe fruit makes it an unbelievable wine at its price point. Comparable to Turley Juvenile.

    15. Evelyn Barksdale

Improved with airtime. Initially floral and musty, but opened up with red fruit and pepper notes. Full and lush feeling, with alcohol well-balanced. A fantastic $24 bottle.

    16. William Cross

Fruity raspberry with a peppery finish.

    17. John Arvizu

Excellent wine with fruity flavors, soft texture, and rich dark berries. A must-try.

    18. Blanche Holland

Dark fruit, notes of grass and vanilla, firm tannins, and good acidity. Great value.

    19. Victor Tejada

Balanced and easy to drink, this Claret-style Zinfandel boasts flavors of black cherry, raspberry, earth, and pepper. Medium length finish. Best over the next 2-3 years.

    20. Jayme Ward

2017 entry level zin is outstanding. Comparable to Turley, Bedrock, and Carlisle’s 2018. (26 words)

    21. Mary Thomas

Rich with raspberry and plum notes, this Zinfandel finishes with a pleasant hint of licorice and black pepper. Not overly jammy.

    22. Luis Adams

      Solid zinfandel.

    23. Charles Johnson

Smooth tannins and fruity palate with a peppery finish. Darn good!

    24. Celeste Morales

Deliciously balanced and true to its varietal.

    25. Richard Perez

Great wine with briary notes and a hint of pepper.

    26. Ariana Dupont

Light and easy to drink with herbal, leather, and fruit notes. Decanted for 90 minutes.

    27. Joey Dykeman

Wine is good with food, especially dark berries. Not the best vintage.

    28. Joseph Butler

Explosive fruity aroma with floral and leathery notes. Grainy tannin with a lengthy finish. Excellent entry-level wine. 92+.

    29. Jessica Mitchell

Great wine with red berry fruit and a tangy edge. Sturdy tannin and pleasant aftertaste.

    30. Kim Alsberry

“Exceptional Zin with concentrated flavors of black cherry and raspberry, mouth-watering acidity, and a long finish. Great value from young vines. Best enjoyed in the next 2-3 years.”

    31. Rich Nicholson

Two delicious wines from Bucklin’s Old Hill Ranch vineyard: the Ancient Field Blend with a deep, spicy flavor and the lighter Bambino with a bright acidity. Both have great red and black fruit, but the Ancient Field Blend needs some more aging. The Bambino is enjoyable now and for the next few years.

    32. Brian Perkins

Great value at $24-30, with a vanilla and pepper taste and no fruity notes. Classy wine, easy 92+ with aeration.

    33. John Noriega

Best 2018 entry level wine. Leathery complexity, floral notes with youthful fruit. Bambino misnomer.

    34. Jamie Fowler

Young vines, but Old Hill Ranch pedigree. Red and black fruits, peach, anise, and pepper. Full-bodied with strong acidity. Black cherry, boysenberry, earth, and pepper on the palate. Good wine for the price. Best over the next 1-2 years.

    35. Kelli Mendieta

What a great Zin for the price. Decant 1 hr allows to really open up and developed further in glass another hour or so. Very nice earthy bouquet with hints of red licorice and cherries. Prominent tannins that balance well with moderate acidity. Spice and white pepper are potent. Actually sits light in the mouth with a dry long peppery finish. Really nice and went fantastic with homemade Shepherds Pie on St Patrick’s Day. Would have liked to hold another year or two but got impatient. Delish!

    36. Clifford Toney

Flavorful wine with dark berry notes.

    37. Jennifer Hudgins

First day: gorgeous bright fruit. Second day: slightly faded.

    38. Lance Rodriguez

Briary and peppery, needs time to settle.

    39. Fredrick Jimenez

Improved on day two. Captivating Sonoma Valley zin with great value.

    40. Raymundo Jones

Value for money, tastes like an expensive Zinfandel with rich dark fruit, spices and a pleasant aroma.

    41. Lori Henderson

Great Zinfandel for the price. Lovely fruit and well-measured Zin nose. Superb QPR.

    42. Sherri Erickson

      Pleasantly impressive!

    43. Eduardo Peete

      Wine is spoiled.

    44. Robert Toothaker

      Improving with time – excellent.

    45. James Klinger

Light, fresh, and easy to drink. Great value for money. Comparable to Bedrock OVZ but more immediately accessible. Fun wine.

    46. Patricia Snell

“Bucklin never fails to impress. Smooth with big fruit and the best value in California.”

    47. Kimberly Bailey

The 2019 is as good as the 2018. A top value California red wine with rich berry fruit, spice, and earthy flavors. Great for aging, crazy value for $25.

    48. Harold Kirk

“Exceptionally good for $25. Need more.”

    49. Trisha Juarez

Rich and concentrated with black fruits, plums, earth and pepper on the nose. Full-bodied with a mouth-watering acidity. Best over the next 2-3 years.

    50. Rodney Herron

Great taste and value for money – a definite winner.

    51. Crystal Gonzalez

Magical floral dark berry nose, perfect tannin acidity balance, long desert-like finish. Paired perfectly with crème brûlée at Sante Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn.

    52. Paul Madrigal

Elegant claret-style Zinfandel with notes of chocolate, coffee, and raspberries. Moderately complex finish. B+ at best.

    53. Susan Wada

Peppery with blackberry fruit. Wait a few years for future bottles.

    54. Barbara Earl

Delicious and easy to drink, this wine boasts black fruits, citrus, and baking spices on the nose, with black cherry, black raspberry, cocoa, and pepper on the palate. Full-bodied and well-balanced, it has exceptional length on the finish and is best enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.

    55. Kelli Santos

Delightful and easy-to-drink wine with delicious fruit flavors. Yum!

    56. Ellen Fuller

Young and needs more time to age.

    57. George Mccalla

Excellent. Fruity with hints of spice.

    58. Larry Lyall

Balanced, medium/full-bodied, with aromas of chocolate, black currant, blackberry, cherry, and raspberry. Long finish, evolves with time. Delicious.

    59. Mary Davidson

Juicy Zinfandel with ripe berries, pepper, and licorice spice.

    60. Dolores Clure

Spicy, juicy fruit with some alcohol presence that may dissipate with time. Good with Fra Diavolo.

    61. Joshua Bishop

Delightfully mellow with a peppery finish. Delicious.

    62. Ruben Sale

Top-notch value Zin with pure fruit, varietal spice, and perfect balance. The best $25 wine in California. Scored 92-93.

    63. Lisa Roche

Similar to the first, but with a bitter finish. Great value.

    64. Richard Fleming

Young but promising. Bramble, rusticity, good acid, and a little heat. Lay off or decant. Good value. Better after 4 days.

    65. Kieth Brown

Excellent value. Comparable to Ridge and Carlisle Pagani Zins.

    66. Alvin Glover

Big, balanced and delicious, with fruit and subtle tannins. A meal of a wine.

    67. Sandra Goode

Approachable and juicy with savory plums, Chinese spices, and a minty aftertaste. Fine tannins. Drink now – 2029.

    68. Elmer Grubbs

Consistent notes, drinking well. Very good.

    69. Jerry Kendrick

Deep ruby, peppery cranberry aroma. Medium acidity, body and alcohol. Blueberry and cinnamon flavor. Delicious and ready to drink.

    70. Wallace Miller

Fresh and less jammy, Best Bambino so far, with a hint of strawberries.

    71. Kieth Midgett

Flavors of cherry, raspberry, blueberry, and currant with a hint of plum. Aromas of blueberry, raspberry, boysenberry, sour cherry, and white pepper. Ends with a 20-25 second finish of cherry and raspberry notes.

    72. Janet Chatman

Fresh fruit flavors of strawberry and cherry with a dry and clean finish.

    73. Alice Humphries

Enjoyable wine with jammy and spicy notes, currently in its prime.

    74. Jason Lee

Review: Green stem overwhelms fruit, green apple notes, medium body, medium tannin, high acid, low sweetness.

    75. Judith Mcrary

Wine was slightly corked, with musty nose that spoils its taste.
