Bethel Heights Casteel Pinot Noir 2022 is a testament to the artistry of renowned winemaker Ben Casteel. Crafted with precision and care, this delicate and vibrant wine is a harmonious blend of fruit from three estate vineyards’”Justice, Bethel Heights, and Lewman’”each contributing to its nuanced complexity. The oldest vines bring a brooding, earthy character, while the youngest contribute youthful exuberance, resulting in a pinot noir that beautifully encapsulates forty years of meticulous vineyard management.

The 2022 vintage, marked by mild yet climatically shifting weather, presented challenges and opportunities that Ben Casteel and his winemaking team navigated with finesse. The result is a wine that reflects the best of these conditions’”an intricately balanced and complex pinot noir with a refreshing and crunchy profile.

Pouring into the glass, the Bethel Heights Pinot Noir unveils a deep garnet color, hinting at the richness within. The nose is greeted by a symphony of aromas, including redcurrant, cherry drops, and hints of citrus rind, harmoniously accompanied by floral and mineral notes. This olfactory dance sets the stage for an exploration of the wine’s palate.

On the tongue, the wine reveals a medium-bodied structure adorned with medium-grained tannins and zingy acidity. Raspberry and red plum flavors dance on the palate, creating a catchy and lingering experience that leads to a vibrant finish. The interplay of fruit, structure, and acidity showcases the meticulous craftsmanship that defines Bethel Heights wines.

Whether enjoyed now or set aside for the future, this wine encapsulates the essence of Oregon’s cool-climate winemaking talent.

In conclusion, the Bethel Heights Casteel Pinot Noir 2022 stands as one of Ben Casteel’s finest creations, epitomizing the excellence that the Bethel Heights winery consistently delivers. It is a wine that not only captivates the senses with its complexity and vibrancy but also aligns with the principles of sustainable winemaking’”a true gem for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Bethel Heights Vineyard, a renowned name in the world of wine, is beautifully nestled in the Eola Hills, a scenic area located northwest of Salem, Oregon. This esteemed winery began its journey in 1977, when a group of visionaries including Ted Casteel, Pat Dudley, Terry Casteel, Marilyn Webb, and Barbara Dudley, ventured into the wine industry. They left their academic careers to pursue their shared passion for winemaking. The chosen site for their venture was a 75-acre land, which was then known as Bethel Heights Walnut Groves, offering an ideal setting for their ambitious project. The team at Bethel Heights Winery embarked on their viticultural journey in 1979 by planting the first vines. This marked the beginning of a venture that would soon establish Bethel Heights as a...check our brand Bethel Heights

    Ben Casteel

Ben Casteel, the eldest son of Bethel Heights Vineyard's co-founders, Terry Casteel and Marilyn Webb, initially set out on an academic path, majoring in English at the University of Oregon. However, fate took a different turn during the 1999 harvest at Domaine de Perdrix in Burgundy, where Ben had an eye-opening experience. Upon returning from France, Ben decided to explore the world of winemaking before pursuing his academic ambitions. He joined Rex Hill as a cellar assistant and gradually worked his way up to become Assistant Winemaker under Aaron Hess. In 2005, after a conversation with his father about the future of Bethel Heights, Ben assumed the role of Winemaker. Committed to his family's legacy, Ben crafts wines that express the unique characteristics of Bethel Heights... More Products
