Steve’s journey into the world of winemaking commenced in 1980, where he began experimenting in garages and carports, perfecting his craft alongside friends who shared his enthusiasm.

After honing his skills, Steve embarked on a remarkable 14-year tenure at the prestigious Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, where he refined his understanding of the art and science of winemaking. In 1999, fueled by an unwavering commitment to his own vineyard and wine, he bid adieu to Mondavi and dedicated himself entirely to this lifelong pursuit.

Together with his partner Carole Meredith, a former professor renowned for her pioneering research in grape genetics, Steve Lagier transformed their property, which they acquired in 1986, into a wine lover’s paradise. Though initially overlooked due to its rugged access road and modest dwelling, their dedication and vision turned it into a thriving vineyard.

Their journey wasn’t just about grapes; it began with an ancient olive grove dating back to the 1880s. Steve and Carole embraced tradition, meticulously curing their small, Niçoise-style olives each year, preserving the legacy of this quaint corner of their property.
