Rodolphe Raffault, a 15th generation winemaker, carries forward a proud family tradition dating back to the 17th century when his ancestors tended the vineyards of Chinon. At Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault, spanning 44 hectares across seven communes, Rodolphe’s commitment to sustainable practices shines. Chemical fertilizers and herbicides find no place in his vineyards, and minimal sulphur is added to his wines.

In a forward-looking move, the domaine embarked on a four-year journey towards organic certification starting from the 2016 vintage. One of the standout features of this estate is the 10-hectare parcel dedicated to Cabernet Franc used in crafting their exceptional rosé. This plot ripens early, often among the first in Chinon, making it susceptible to April’s late frosts. To combat this threat, the Domaine employs anti-frost fans, ensuring the vines remain protected from freezing temperatures. Rodolphe Raffault’s dedication to preserving his family’s heritage while embracing sustainable winemaking practices is a testament to his commitment to quality and tradition.
