Meet Eric Germain, the talented head winemaker of the esteemed wine business formerly owned by Vincent Girardin and now under the leadership of Jean-Pierre Nié. When Jean-Pierre took over, he wisely decided to keep Eric Germain and Marco Caschera on board, recognizing their invaluable contributions. As substantial shareholders, Eric and Marco have continued to maintain the highest standards for their wines, using only the finest raw materials.

Over the past fifteen years, Eric’s winemaking expertise has flourished, and recent vintages have showcased wines with heightened precision, tension, elegance, and purity. With a focus on white wines, Eric has abandoned bâtonnage and extended maturation in barrels, allowing for even greater finesse and energy in their creations. Christophe Marrin, the new specialist red winemaker working alongside Eric, has already made a positive impact, resulting in finer and more elegant red wines.

The Bourgogne Blanc “Terroir Noble” hails from carefully tended vines in Puligny, Chassagne, and Meursault, while the Bourgogne Rouge “Terroir Noble” derives exclusively from old vines in Volnay and Pommard. Both wines have earned acclaim for their excellence.

Though a smaller-scale negociant, this business stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality. With contracts to purchase fruit from 85 hectares (55 of which they control and harvest themselves) and ownership or fermage of 13 hectares, they continually invest in their vineyards. Recent acquisitions in Volnay, Puligny, Meursault, Pommard, and Auxey-Duresses demonstrate their dedication to expanding and enhancing their terroir holdings.

Despite their relatively modest size, this winemaking team crafts between 28,000 and 50,000 dozen bottles per year, depending on the vintage. Yet, the focus remains on producing accessible and delectable wines that faithfully express the unique characteristics of their individual terroirs. Eric Germain’s expertise and the team’s unwavering dedication continue to delight wine enthusiasts worldwide, making their wines an exquisite addition to any collection.
