Alexandre Ponnavoy

Alexandre Ponnavoy, the dedicated winemaker at Champagne Taittinger, embarked on his journey with the renowned house in April 2015. His role, initially assisting Cellar Chief Loïc Dupont, was the result of a meticulous recruitment process.

In the hallowed halls of Taittinger, the winemaker’s role is akin to that of a diligent monk, tirelessly preserving the essence of the cuvées that define the house’s signature. Over three years, Alexandre Ponnavoy closely collaborated with Loïc Dupont, delving into the heart and soul of Taittinger’s wines. His mission: to master the distinctiveness of Taittinger’s creations and one day assume the mantle himself.

Born in 1979 in the Dijon region, Alexandre’s journey to Reims followed his academic pursuits, culminating in a Master’s degree in Oenology-Champagne Wines. His career path led him to California, where he vinified wines, and later to the Champagne Technological Station as a consulting oenologist. Here, he advised and nurtured over 150 wine estates, guiding them in the development and marketing of their sparkling wines.

With remarkable dedication and unwavering values, Alexandre Ponnavoy has earned the trust and respect of the entire Champagne Taittinger team. As the custodian of Taittinger’s legacy, he ensures the consistency, balance, and finesse of their wines while contemplating the creation of future vintages. His journey from Dijon to Reims has been one of passion, commitment, and a deep appreciation for the art of winemaking.
