Wine Description
Our Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is comprised of fruit from various high quality vineyard sites throughout the county, with the majority grown at the the Kick-on Ranch. This bottling is intended to provide great value and represenation, while keeping focus on quality and typicity.
The chardonnay is whole cluster pressed to tank, settled briefly before being moved to another tank for fermentation. After fermentation is active, the juice goes down to 228L barrels and 500L puncheons. We perform no battonage and the wine goes through full Malolactic Fermentation. The wine is left on lees for 11 months before going back to tank for an additional few months of aging.
The result is a fresh and bright style of chardonnay carrying a citrus, mineral, and marine profile – very much “Santa Barbara”.

James Mcwilliams –
Pale lemon green. Med intensity, crisp apple, pear, quince, slightly buttery, pastry. Fruit ripe and apparent. Still quite Californian in style but a bit more restrained in oak and MLF flavors. 87-88pt
Jasper Gutierrez –
Really super pretty on the nose. Stylized with vivid fruit character but not overdone. Crisp and clean on the palate. Also vivid. Very well done.
Margo Gonzalez –
This chardonnay is the ideal style for me. Not an oak/vanilla bomb, and also not overly acidic/mineraly for my tastes. Just a great blend of fruit/tropical/peach flavors with a chardonnay character balanced by good structure. My favorite <$30

Wow that just smells great. Wonderfully starchy palate with just delicious dry extract. That’s fantastic. Smells and tastes just fantastic. Just amazing Chardonnay.
Mike Vix –
Stone fruit, pear, and minerality. A bit of oak & butter. High acid for a Chardonnay. Better with food.
Emmanuel Salazar –
Really tasty chard. Light and not heavy handed with the oak and allows the fruit to speak with some prickly acidity.
Sara Coore –
Nice Chardonnay oaked and drinking well.
Jeffrey Thomas –
Same as prior notes balanced with great QPR
Robert Mcguire –
This drinks well over its price point. Might actually be one of the top values out there. Riper and more melon/stone fruit driven than expected. No noticeable wood but certain has pick up a nice texture/density from some. Blind I might guess Miani Bianco.
Scott Liu –
Same as prior notes, drinks great w killer qpr
William Santiago –
Fresh, nice depth and texture, floral. Citrus, white peach and pear. High acidity. Great QPR
Roger Mccoy –
Bright, citrusy and full of energy. And, as is noted elsewhere, great QPR. Wish I had more.
Herbert Crews –
Åpnet og drukket over 3 timer.

Another Stellar ChardonnaySometimes a wine just falls in my lap. Usually, I think “Oh, boy, this is going to be a doozie” (not the good kind.” Every so often, not enough for this wineaux, one drops in and surprises you. That’s today’s wine.Tyler Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2021While it didn’t exactly fall from the sky, it did come to me while pouring at a recent tasting. Naver having had the wine prior, my first sip occurred when I opened the bottle at the event. I did have a sense of what might be ahead of me from the 95-point review given the wine from a major reviewer. The review was the pie, but tasting was the cherry on top! As the reviewer commented in their assessment, the wine “over-delivered.” This is especially true given that its fruit comes from the wide appellation of Santa Barbara County. The quality and taste being much more like a single-vineyard wine.Immediate notes of stone fruit with a faint citrusy background combined with a nuttiness and honey that balanced nicely with the minerality of the wine. Sleek acidity kept everything in perfect harmony.Though this wine is comprised of various high-quality vineyards, their own vineyards are farmed organically and hand sorted. Whole cluster pressed and fermented in large barrels and puncheons; the wine goes through full malolactic fermentation. After 11 months on the lees, the wine goes to tank for a few months of additional aging.Tyler Winery is a small production operation focusing on Appellation and Single-Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. From reviews of other some of their other wines, this is a winery to take an interest in.Cheers
Charles Pratt –
This an easy drinking chard which also will work well with food; nice balance of oak, fruit and acid and good body and flavor for 12.7 ABV. Price is very attractive.
Jennie Armstrong –
Peach on the nose.Bit of dissolved CO2, very round, touch of oak, lemon, sweetness on the palate.Perhaps could have used a bit more acidity but very smooth drinking.
Betty Vaquera –
Very light, almost ethereal. Best a bit warmer than fridge temp, maybe around 60F. Also needed a surprising amount of time (for a young white) to open up and flesh out.

The 2021 Chardonnay overdelivers for its appellation-wide status. It has pretty scents of quince, poached pear, spring honey, chalk and roasted almonds. The medium-bodied palate is satiny, savory and expansive with dynamic flavor layers and a very long finish.
