Wine Description
Hestan Chardonnay 2019, skillfully crafted by acclaimed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, encapsulates the essence of the exceptional 2019 growing season. Evoking a medium straw hue, this unfiltered and unfined wine exudes an enticing bouquet of red apple, lemon candy, melon, and stone fruit, inviting the senses on an aromatic journey. The palate reveals a harmonious blend of honeydew, orange candy, and hints of ginger and butterscotch, interlaced with subtle nuances of under-ripe apricot. Sur-lees aging and a light malolactic fermentation contribute to its well-integrated structure, while a balanced acidity adds a refreshing touch. With a French oak aging regimen comprising 40% new and 60% neutral barrels, this Chardonnay boasts a 13.9% alcohol content, culminating in a captivating wine that promises to mature gracefully over the next 5-7 years.
The 2019 growing season’s ample rainfall, coupled with ideal foggy mornings and moderate temperatures, has resulted in a wine that embodies both ripeness and precision. With only 650 cases produced, this wine stands as a testament to Hestan’s commitment to producing expressive and meticulously crafted wines that capture the essence of each growing season.
