Wine Description
2016 Freemark Abbey Bosche Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color, the fruit in the aroma is black cherry, blueberry and red raspberry. The bright fruit is complimented with dark chocolate, black pepper, forest floor, aromatic cedar and leather notes. The oak spice is fairly integrated, adding to the overall complexity. The texture on the palate has a smooth entry, with dark cherry flavor. The tannins are well resolved, yet promise the ability for long aging. The fruit acidity provides a very pleasant lengthy finish.

Critical Acclaim
Wine Enthusiast
Mineral-driven and bright in acidity, this wine is smooth and supple, integrated and complex. With length and breadth, its forceful flavors of dust, juicy black cherry and dried herb combine effortlessly into toasted oak and a length of nutmeg and black pepper.
Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosché Vineyard comes prancing out of the glass with showy Black Forest cake, blackberry pie and blackcurrant cordial scents with hints of unsmoked cigars, pencil lead, olives and morello cherries. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lovely ripe, rounded tannin texture and layers of black fruits and herbal accents, finishing on a perfumed note.
James Suckling
Wonderful aromas of blackcurrants and fresh herbs, such as basil and tarragon. Medium to full body and round, silky tannins. Lovely finish of blackcurrants and sage. Shows structure.

One of the flagship releases from this estate, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche comes from a single vineyard (it’s one of the earliest single vineyard releases from Napa) in Rutherford and is close to 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot aged in 67% new French oak for 28 months. Its opaque purple color is followed by a stunning bouquet of red and black currants, crushed violets, dark chocolate, graphite, truffle, and hot gravel-like minerality. Showing the elegance and purity that’s the hallmark of the vintage, it’s medium to full-bodied, with beautiful tannins and a seamless, elegant texture.
