Wine Description
The Clos Cibonne Rose Tibouren ‘Cuvee Speciale des Vignettes’ 2020 is a highly acclaimed and unique Cotes de Provence rose. This limited edition rose is crafted from hand-selected, over 60-year-old organic Tibouren grapes grown in the vineyards at the foot of the Maures Mountains in the Mediterranean Basin.
This wine owes its unique flavor profile to the exceptional microclimate of its terrior. The cool evening breezes from the nearby Mediterranean Sea results in grapes that are juicy and bursting with flavor. Olivier Deforge, the winemaker, utilizes traditional methods and allows the wine to age for one year under a thin veil of yeast called Fleurette, giving it its unique characteristics. The resulting wine offers a deep orange color and a bouquet of very ripe red fruit such as strawberries and red plums, balanced with subtle woody notes and floral aromatics, such as lily and candied citrus. On the palate, there is a pleasing structure and balanced mouthfeel, with notes of tea, sandalwood, and incense on the finish.
Given that this is a limited edition release with only 1,200 cases produced and 400 imported to the United States, the Clos Cibonne Rose Tibouren Cuvee Speciale des Vignettes 2020 is a truly special and unique wine. It has received a score of 92 points from Wine Spectator and offers a delightful drinking experience. Enjoy it now with a classic Bouillabaisse or Mediterranean fish soup.

Cassandra Boudreaux –
Balanced rosy wine with medium body, round texture, and long finish. Needs aging, pairs well with big food.
Brenda Martinez –
Balanced with flowers, oranges, peach, and a hint of strawberries on the nose. Melon, peach, and light berry flavors on the palate. Good finish. 91+.
Veronica Alexander –
2016 vintage is good, but 2015 is better. Improved on the second day. Elegant with peach and red fruit flavors. High acidity.
Andy Jones –

Jeffrey Hilliard –
Onion-skin color with oak and great energy. Age-worthy and serious, perfect for food pairing. Light fruit and soft body. AMAZING with peas.
Deborah Nguyen –
Robust rosé with earthy aroma, subtle tannin, and pleasant aftertaste.
Arlene Fritz –
Fresh and fruity rosé with wild strawberry, red currant, and nutty hints. Medium-bodied with pungent acidity and a long, fresh finish. Will age well for 5-7 more years.

Great wine, in high demand and quickly consumed.

Delicious homemade meat lovers pizza for pizza night.
Jean Yazzie –
Full-bodied with refreshing acidity, the Clos Cibonne Speciale offers a mix of strawberry, orange zest, citrus, and melon flavors on the nose. The finish is nice with a slight bitterness towards the end. A benchmark rose that deserves a 92-93 rating.
Mark Robertson –
“Best rosé I’ve ever had! Complex, flavorful, and must find more!”
Florence Petersen –
Fresh and refreshing, slightly closed, not flawed.
Theodore Prindle –
“Nice Provence rosé with a copper color, muted bouquet, good fruit and acidity, medium finish. Could benefit from cellar time.”
Josiah Kittle –
Rosé with a complex nose of raspberries, dried herbs, and dried roses. Medium-bodied, fresh, and slightly oxidized with a nice acidity. Made from 60-year-old vines of the Tibouren grape, aged under a thin veil of yeast for one year.
Pete Mauney –
An elevated version of the regular bottling with similar aromatics, beautiful copper color, and brighter notes. A new favorite from Provence.
Sheila Geise –
Good but not my favorite. Had Vignettes for the first time, started at 55F but wanted it colder. Herb-y with a slight undertone of stone fruit and a strong bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit pith.
Robert Howard –
Complex and ageworthy rose with red fruit and nutty notes. Not a casual poolside sipper but worth trying if you like Lopez rose.
Sara Stewart –
Fungal notes, possibly corked.
Barbara Hale –
A subtle blend of grapefruit, strawberries, herbs, and minerals with good acidity. Palate includes orange, red berries, and mineral notes. Nice finish. 91+.
Steven Strock –
Amber with pink flecks. Good weight and lovely finish.
Maria Vanpelt –
A fresh and fruity rosé with notes of wild strawberries, raspberries, peaches and garrigue. A great style that will only get better with age.
Judy Booker –
Salmon pink with citrus notes, weighty feel, long finish, and lovely oxidative notes.
Phillip Armstrong –
Bright acidity with notes of peach pit, herbs, and garrigue.
Frank Shaffer –
Salmon-hued. Notes of orange peel, Campari, and minerals with good acidity. Tight and bright. #podcast.
Christopher Alford –
Consistently impressive.
Betty Reynolds –
Serious wine with a beautiful copper color, crisp palate, and fresh acidity. Best paired with an elegant lunch and aged for several years.
Diane Weinman –
Light orange-pink color. Aromatic nose of ripe fruit, floral notes, herbs, spices & minerals. Light-bodied with well-balanced, smooth-textured, ripe fruit flavors of strawberries, stone fruits & citrus. Lingering dry finish.
Gary Crosby –
Excellent rosé, drinking very well right away. Vinnut’s description is spot on. I love it.
Sarah Jaworowski –
Delightful wine with precise floral notes and red apple peels. Perfectly pairs with lemon, kiwi, and red apples. Will age well.
Noel Hubbard –
Rose petal and strawberry notes dominate the nose and taste. Aged for a year in 120-year-old 5000L foudres, it has good weight and plenty of fruit. Rating: 91-92 pts.
David Boling –
93 points for this interesting fuller-bodied Rose, with spice notes mixed in with strawberry and plum, and just a touch of oaky nuances. Made from 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, aged for 12 months in 100 year old oak casks from estates oldest vines which are more than 40 years old.
Darlene Ouellette –
Serious wine, crisp acidity, focused nose. Similar to Domaine Ott’s higher-end bottlings. Age-worthy.
George Diaz –
Excellent Cooper/salmon color with aromas of ripe strawberries, herbs, and minerals. Palate has notes of mild flowers, raspberry, and watermelon with lovely minerals. Medium body with excellent acids and concentration. Moderately long finish with strawberries and watermelon. Good now and has potential to age.
Vera Weiner –
Review: Initially harsh with bitter notes but mellows out after airing. Balanced acidity with red fruits and citrus peel. Beautiful bottle design. Bold and food-friendly.
Debbie Perez –
Fresh and enjoyable, tried for the first time with some age. Friend recommended cellaring. Have a backup.
Camille Gorney –
Clos Cibonne’s Cuvée Speciale des Vignettes is a marked step up from their regular rose. It is cleaner and has incredible balance with a hint of salinity and spice. This is a food wine that could sleep even longer.
Donald Clark –
Fresh and fun, this special cuvee surprises with a lifted nose of strawberries, roses, and orange peel. A slightly sweet finish makes it a perfect pairing for food.
Adrienne Coleman –
Serious Provence rosé with fresh fruity notes of wild strawberries, red currants, and raspberries. Aged for a year on big wooden vats.
Michele Bane –
Review: Delicate orange hue with ripe red fruit aroma and a floral hint. Medium(+) body with a nice acidity. 13.5% ABV. 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache from 60-year-old vines.
William Clarkson –
Medium orange. Green apple, pear, honey, wet stone, wax, honeysuckle. Dry, high acid, medium alcohol, medium plus body. Some definite tannin. Burnt grapefruit, sour grape, red cherry, tomato leaf. Unique and complex. Medium plus finish. Drink now or age.
Betty Humphrys –
Rare and beautiful, this wine blends austerity and rosé vibes perfectly.
Earl Mancuso –
Rose at its best! Extra gear and complexity sets it apart from 95% of its peers. Worth every penny at $33. 94pts.
Michelle Haskins –
Excellent concentration, depth and age-worthiness. Evolving complexity of fruit, floral, herbal and spice elements. Highly recommended.
Brian Olea –
Great depth of flavor for a rose, pairs well with food.
Keith Ratledge –
Disappointing. This $40 rose lacks complexity, articulation, resonance, and character. Basic cuvée from recent vintage preferred.
Joseph Durbin –
Fresh with notes of angostura bitters, orange peel, and strawberry. More fruit than the previous bottle, great structure and weight. Up a point for me.
Barbara Goodman –
Mineral nose, orange marmalade, and green melon on palate. Lovely tangy finish.
Lisa Fowler –
Fan of this rosé with salmon hue and tannin. A contemplative wine to savor. Will seek out future vintages.
Melvin Mancuso –
Clos Cibonne’s Tibouren grape rose is complex and concentrated, with spicy orange and citrus peel aromas. Excellently dense and refreshing with long finish, this under-the-radar terroir wine is a beautiful step up from the regular cuvee.
Mitchell Paris –
Vibrant pink with a salmon hue. Apricots, yeasty sherry-like quality with a hint of roses on the nose. Deep and round on the palate with orange/citrus like quality and sherry vibes. Acidic on the tail end to give it structure. Cool wine!
Charlie Asuncion –
Epic summer wine weekend in Muskoka, Ontario. Light salmon color with high intensity and complexity. Rich red fruit, medium plus acid, nicely herbal and tart on the finish. Great balance, like a tweener between classic Provence and Lopez de Heredia’s Rosado.
Steve Coyne –
Favorite! Pale orange, aromatic, flavorful, well-balanced, energetic, rich, fresh finish. Not bitter.
Lou Wells –
Impressive!
Robert Mcgowan –
Serious rosé with mineral notes of slate, crushed rocks, and saline. Hints of strawberry, melon, and pepper on finish with noticeable tannins. Comparable to Tempier.
Mildred Swisher –
Intense and powerful with ripe raspberry and cherry notes. Should age well. 90+ to 91pts.
Gregory Jenkins –
Outstanding rose with small berries, dried underbrush, and peach fuzz flavors. Creamy silky entry and long textured finish. Highly recommend.
Robert Huynh –
Interesting Rosé with pink-copper color, fruity nose, dry, medium body, and mid-length finish. Bandol-like with a slight bitterness. Likely includes Rolle in the blend.
David Jackson –
My top pick for rosè.
Andrew Harlin –
Sensational and complex, this wine has notes of cherry, hazelnut, and florals with a lovely finish.
Dana Micheals –
Fantastic rosé with rare depth and texture and beautiful copper color.
Joshua Jacobsen –
Annandale Cellars Christmas Tasting: Hints of fruit, nuts, and herbs. Slightly sweet and warming. Texture not great.
Theo Ramos –
Complex wine with deep strawberry fruit and pleasant oxidative notes. Ideal presentation at 8-10°C. Best paired with tapas or Provencal amuse bouche. Needs time (4+ years) to mature. ABV 14%.
Donald Reed –
Mar 2023 – Umami all the way.
Mary Bradley –
Satisfactory but lacks expected character despite aging another year.
Patrice Ware –
Fresh, fruity medium-bodied rosé with wild strawberry, red currant, raspberry, and blood orange notes. Ideal for aging.
