A real mosaic of fruit: aromas of raspberry, wild strawberries, cherries, etc. Notes of peach and quince complete this fruity bouquet. This wine is characterised by its creamy effervescence, splendid volume in the mouth and long aromatic persistence. Its wonderful acidity and sea-air characteristics appear alongside flavors of orchard fruits and berries.

Even-though if the Grande Année Rosé contains 95% of the Grande Année Blanc and 5% of Bollingers less famous red La Côté aux Enfants to give it is color and additional depth it is surprisingly different when tasted side by side. This is a generous vintage of GA rosé much thanks to the the 2014 La Côte aux Enfants being a much “larger” wine than usual as.

    2. Virginia Ames

During a lunch at Bollinger. Very young and crisp, the 2014 raciness showing, some bruised apples. This needs time. More Chard than usual I am told. I would open this after 2028.

    3. Thomas Walsh

Saline, strawberry, shows the influence of wood. Acidity overly sharp, feels a little underripe. Lean body for a Bollinger.

    4. Spencer Eubank

Northern Rhone-a-thon: This pours light salmon in the glass. The nose is quite linear and precise, not terribly autolytic. Nose is of white cherry, chalky mineral, bay leaf, mayer lemon, apple blossom, and a whiff of raspberry. The palate features high acidity, with notable chalky mineral and closes on light red fruit. All in all this didn’t live up to my expectations for what this should be. I’m an unabashed Bollinger fan, but this didn’t seem to have that extra gear you’d expect from Grand Annee. Based on tasting today I’d say this is poor value at $240 CAD, and equal or more pleasure could be derived from many other NV grower bottles at well under half the price.

    5. Mary Smith

not blindThis time I preferred the blanc version of Grande Annee. A serious wine. 93

This graceful rosé Champagne has a lovely, creamy viscosity, enfolding aromas and flavors of ripe apricot and plum fruit, toasted almond, tea rose, dried mint and pickled ginger. This version’s lush flavors and texture are well-meshed with and enlivened by a firm streak of racy acidity, with a chalky underpinning emerging to drive the finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now.

    8. WE

After eight years from harvest, this Champagne is beautifully balanced. Touches of toast and a rounded texture still are lifted by the taut, minerality and complexity. This is an impressive wine with a long, lingering, memorable aftertaste that will age further, although it is ready to drink

    9. WA

Disgorged with eight grams per liter dosage, Bollinger’s 2014 Brut La Grande Année Rosé wafts from the glass with aromas of tangerine oil, red berries, warm biscuits and English walnuts. Full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it’s a broad, vinous Champagne, with a deep core of fruit and racy acids, complemented by a delicate pinpoint mousse and concluding with delicate and enlivening phenolic grip on the finish.

    10. JD

Consisting of 63% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, with 6% still wine from Côte Aux Enfants, the 2014 Champagne La Grande Année Brut Rosé is more expressive now and jumps out of the glass with fresh toasted brioche, apricot, wild raspberry, and orange custard. The palate is rounded and precise, with the spine and tension expressive of the cool vintage, followed by notes of golden orchard fruit, currant, and fresh salinity. This is showing well right now and is hard to resist, although it will certainly improve. Best after 2022.

    11. VIN

The 2014 Rosé La Grande Année is airy, gracious and full of energy. Crushed rocks, white pepper, red berry, mint and blood orange lend striking aromatic intensity and presence. Finely cut and taut, the Rosé is a nervy Champagne that needs time to come together. The Rosé is blended from a base of the Blanc plus 5% still red Pinot from Bollinger’s Coteaux des Enfants vineyard in Aÿ. Perhaps because of its later disgorgement vis-à-vis the Blanc, the Rosé is a bit tight today. Disgorged: August, 2021. Dosage: 8 grams per liter.

    12. WAS

Of the 19 crus that provide this blend, the chardonnay (37 percent) grows in Couilly and Oiry while the pinot noir (63 percent) is mostly from Verzenay and Aÿ, including the small proportion of red wine from La Côte aux Enfants that gives its color. The oak fermentation of the base wines comes through as richness and spice, seamlessly integrated into quiet power, a pale rosebud tight with potential energy.

Revered worldwide for its exquisite sparkling wines, this region's allure is intricately tied to its unique geographical and climatic characteristics, producing some of the world's most coveted wines.

Champagne's vinous legacy traces its roots to the Middle Ages when still wines were produced here. However, it was in the 17th century that the magical transformation occurred – the discovery of effervescence through secondary fermentation in the bottle. This serendipitous revelation led to the birth of Champagne as we know it today, with its characteristic bubbles... ...Check Region for more information
