Melka Estates Description
Located in the renowned Napa Valley, Melka Estates is a prominent wine producer that was established in 1996 by Cherie and Philippe Melka. The winery takes pride in its diverse collection of four exceptional wines, which are carefully sourced from vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, and even as far as Saint-Émilion.
Melka Estates’ winemaking philosophy revolves around showcasing the unique terroir of each vineyard, emphasizing the distinct characteristics of the soil in which the grapes are cultivated.
Their signature label, Métisse, primarily features Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by varying proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, depending on the vintage and vineyard source. The Montbleau Vineyard offers a 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Martinez Vineyard and Jumping Goat Vineyard are delightful blends.
Notably, their Majestique label represents an international touch, showcasing the Le Chatelet from Saint-Émilion, an exquisite blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, a tradition maintained for over 15 vintages.
Additionally, the Mekerra label pays homage to Philippe’s father, with grapes sourced from the eponymous vineyard in Knights Valley, producing Chardonnay, Merlot, and both red and white blends.
Lastly, the CJ label celebrates the Melka family’s legacy and is intended for youthful enjoyment. Melka Estates’ commitment to craftsmanship and respect for terroir make them a true gem in the world of winemaking.
