Goelet, an inspired and visionary owner, selected this site after searching for a location perfectly suited to growing premium Cabernet Sauvignon.

Clos du Val’s vineyards are strategically located in three prime areas: Stags Leap, Yountville, and Caneros. The Stags Leap site, which occupies the majority of their vineyard space, is predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, along with small blocks of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The Yountville vineyards, particularly the State Lane Vineyard, were replanted in 2002 to focus mainly on Cabernet Sauvignon. Meanwhile, the Caneros vineyards provide outstanding Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, ideal for creating balanced and elegant wines.

The winemaking team at Clos de Napa Winery includes an exceptional winemaker and an assistant winemaker who work diligently to craft wines of unparalleled quality. Their viticulture practices are modern and sustainable. None of the vineyards are tilled; instead, permanent grass is planted in the mid-rows to maintain the soil structure and health.
