Chateau Lalande Wine Description
Chateau Lalande Wine: A Simple Story of Quality and Tradition. In a little village, not too far from where Gustave Eiffel once lived, a dream turned into reality. Dominique Falxa, who grew up in a family of winegrowers, always hoped to have a vineyard of his own. This dream took shape in 1971 when he used his savings to buy his first piece of land. That was the beginning of what we now know as Chateau Lalande Wine.
Located about 15 kilometers from Bordeaux, in a region known for its exceptional wine-growing conditions, Chateau Lalande sits proudly. The vineyards stretch over 44 hectares in the Entre-Deux-Mers area, right in the heart of one of the best wine regions in the world. This place is special, combining the right soil and climate to produce some outstanding wines.
Chateau Lalande opened its doors in the early 1970s and quickly set about making a name for itself. Between 1971 and 1975, Dominique worked hard, planting and pruning vines, until finally, in 1976, he was able to move into the estate and immerse himself completely in the winemaking process. His dedication paid off in 1979 when he sold his first bottles of wine.
Today, his children, Isabelle and Régis, have taken over. They’re committed to keeping their father’s legacy alive, using their knowledge as agricultural technicians to ensure the winery’s success. They’ve continued to work the land, now certified with HVE 3 since 2019, a testament to their sustainable and respectful farming practices.
The vineyards of Chateau Lalande are remarkable. They’re spread across two estates: Château Les Gauthiers in Bonnetan and Chateau La lande Labatut in Salleboeuf. Both are located on the right bank of the Garonne river, nestled between Bordeaux and Libourne. This strategic location contributes to the production of their high-quality wines.
When it comes to what Chateau Lalande Wine makes, the variety is impressive. They produce 200,000 bottles of AOC Bordeaux red wine, 20,000 bottles of AOC Bordeaux rosé wine, and 17,000 bottles of dry white AOC Entre-Deux-Mers wine annually. Their oldest vines, grown on clay-limestone and clay-gravelly hillsides, yield 7,000 bottles of Bordeaux Supérieur red wine. These wines have consistently won gold and silver medals in major national and international competitions, reflecting the winery’s commitment to excellence.
Chateau Lalande Wine offers a range of products that showcase the best of French winemaking. From the Crémant de Bordeaux to the Bordeaux Supérieur Rouge and the Entre-Deux-Mers, each wine tells a story of tradition and quality. They even have a “Bag in Box” option, proving that good wine doesn’t always need to come in a bottle.
While not specifically producing Saint-Julien Wine, Chateau Lalande embodies the spirit of exceptional French winemaking. Through a blend of tradition and innovative farming practices, they’ve carved a niche for themselves in the wine world, producing wines that are not just drinks, but experiences.
In summary, Chateau Lalande Wine stands as a testament to what dedication, passion, and respect for land and tradition can achieve. From its humble beginnings to its current status as a producer of some of the best wines in the Bordeaux region, Chateau Lalande continues to impress with every bottle.
