Bodegas Ateca, nestled in the Calatayud appellation, is a renowned winemaking venture crafted by the GIL family. Their journey began with the opening of Bodegas Ateca, and since then, they’ve become a symbol of exceptional winemaking.

Located in the heart of Calatayud, Bodegas Ateca benefits from the unique terroir of the region. The vineyards are situated on steep hillsides with slate soils, some reaching elevations of 1,000 meters above sea level. These challenging conditions, characterized by meager soils and extreme weather, are ideal for cultivating premium-quality Garnacha (Grenache) grapes.

Bodegas Ateca’s vineyards consist of numerous small parcels, boasting vines aged between 30 and 100 years. These venerable vines contribute to the depth and character of their wines.

What sets Bodegas Ateca apart is their commitment to sustainable farming practices. They prioritize the health of the land and the vines, ensuring the production of top-notch grapes that showcase the region’s unique terroir.

The winery itself is situated in Ateca, a charming town located 14 kilometers south of Calatayud, which lends its name to the appellation. Roberto Pérez, a local winemaker, oversees every aspect of winemaking at this estate.
