Ad Vivum Cellars

Ad Vivum Cellars is a Napa Valley winery located in Yountville, California. The winery was established in 2007 by Chris Phelps, a seasoned winemaker with a rich background in the wine industry.

Chris Phelps’ journey with Ad Vivum began in 2005 when he started experimenting with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Sleeping Lady Vineyard. Convinced of the vineyard’s potential to produce exceptional wine, he collaborated with the owner of Sleeping Lady, Lary Bettinelli, who set aside a small block of vines exclusively for Phelps.

With a strong wine-loving background and formal education in enology and viticulture from U.C. Davis and the University of Bordeaux, respectively, Chris Phelps honed his winemaking skills while working at prestigious estates like Château Pétrus and Dominus Estate.

Ad Vivum is renowned for its single vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, exclusively sourced from the Sleeping Lady Vineyard. Phelps’ approach to winemaking blends “New World wines with an Old-World sensibility,” resulting in world-class wines that embody the terroir of the Napa Valley.
