A true compliment of the winery’s ability to combine power with grace, the 2019 Stags’ Leap The Investor Red Wine is warm, rich, and inviting, with exuberant notes of dark blackberry, black cherry, blueberry cobbler, and dark plum, alongside spiced notes of cinnamon, clove, allspice and vanilla. Alluring notes of black pepper, graphite, and floral violet are interwoven with delicate savory notes of fresh thyme, lavender and wild sage. The plush mouthfeel is silky and inviting with round tannins that envelope the palate, leading to a long, mouthwatering finish with fresh acidity and vibrancy. Accompany alongside any dish to enliven any celebratory meal.

    1. WA

An unusual blend of 39% Merlot, 32% Petite Sirah, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec, SLW’s 2019 The Investor features a rich array of fruit scents, ranging from cassis to raspberry and cherry. It’s medium to full-bodied, framed by soft, silky, dusty tannins and finished off by hints of vanilla. It’s a step up from the winery’s basic Cabernet and Merlot, more accessible and nicely balanced, even if it lacks varietal signature. Best After 2022

    2. JS

Aromas of black and red currants, dried herbs, black licorice and figs. Medium-to full-bodied with velvety tannins. Juicy and fruity at the start, but lovely ground spice emerges through the long finish. Well structured and harmonious. 39% merlot, 32% petit sirah, 19% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec.

Red blends of this type rarely shine as brightly. This ultra concentrated and smooth-textured blend including Merlot, Petite Sirah and Malbec is inky dark in color, aromatic in blueberries, blackcurrants and mint followed by oak spices and dark chocolate on the palate. Creamy in texture, it is laden in massive but melted tannins. Best from 2026–2036.
