Rudd Crossroads Cabernet Franc 2019, a captivating red wine, emanates from the Rudd estate’s alluvial fan in the renowned Oakville AVA, Napa Valley. Handcrafted by esteemed winemaker Natalie Bath, this wine exhibits a vibrant 14.50% ABV, showcasing the distinct attributes of the Cabernet Franc grape. The alluring bouquet combines tart red cherry, fresh herbs, and graphite, infusing an intoxicating medley of aromas. On the palate, a playful interplay between ripe plum, fresh green olive, and dusty cocoa tannins defines its complexity and richness, culminating in a refined and complete wine.

Reflecting the essence of the 2019 growing season, characterized by ample rainfall, a warm summer, and foggy mornings, this vintage culminated in the harvest of Cabernet Franc, spanning from September 20th to the beginning of October. The gradual ripening process contributed to the wine’s impressive color, robust structure, and plush tannins, all preserved by the mild finish to the season. With a blend of 60% neutral French oak and 40% new French oak aging, the Crossroads Cabernet Franc epitomizes balance and finesse, accentuating the estate’s dedication to organic farming and artisanal winemaking.

Notably lauded by Wine Enthusiast with 92 points, this wine is celebrated for its herbal, peppery texture and soft palate, characterized by layers of cherry, plum, currant, and subtle hints of chocolate. Wine Spectator also awarded it 92 points, praising its enticing blend of sage, olive, tobacco, and scorched earth notes, complemented by a rich wave of warmed cassis and plum sauce, epitomizing the wine’s enduring and contemplative appeal.

They share some similarities with Cabernet Sauvignon but are distinguished by a distinctive green, vegetal note that ranges from leafy and garrigue to green bell pepper. This unique characteristic has occasionally led wine enthusiasts to mistake Cabernet Franc for unripe Cabernet Sauvignon or even...Please check Cabernet Franc for more information
