Melville Pinot Noir ‘Estate’ 2020 has red rose petal in color, lively and vivid aromatics of raspberry, black cherry, fresh cranberry sauce, blood orange, and nori waft from the glass. In the background, dried sage, basil powder, and talc weave alongside a hint of cinnamon and orange rind. 2. WA

The 2020 Pinot Noir Estate has a medium ruby color and scents of dried red cherries and pomegranate with accents of tobacco leaves and prosciutto. The medium-bodied palate is firm and grainy, finishing earthy.

    3. JD

A year-in, year-out no brainer for those who love impeccably made California Pinot Noir, the 2020 Pinot Noir Estate Sta. Rita Hills reveals a healthy, translucent ruby hue as well as textbook Sta. Rita Hills notes of mulberries, redcurrants, baking spices, dried flowers, and subtle hints of marine-like iodine and salinity. Beautiful on the palate as well, it’s medium-bodied, has terrific balance, silky tannins, and a great finish. It’s gorgeous today yet will keep for a decade in cold cellars.

    4. WAS

A young wine with youthful dark fruit and tension, and a strident expression of whole-cluster spice, this is exceedingly savory in its aromatics, with scents of olive and olive leaf, smoldering tobacco and gorse. Its fruit is flavorful and dark, and shows some integration after three days open, but it needs age to merge with the savory elements.

Winemaker of Melville Estate Pinot Noir 2020

    chad melville

    Chad Melville

In 1997, alongside his father and brother, Chad Melville co-founded Melville's estate vineyards. Over the years, he has assumed the role of both winemaker and winegrower, prompting an intriguing question: which one defines him best? At Melville, the notion that wines "begin in the vineyard" holds true. Chad's wines are crafted exclusively from grapes grown at the Melville Estate, giving him and his team full control over their treatment. However, while they can't dictate nature's whims, Chad embraces a life in humble servitude to Mother Nature and their cherished piece of land that houses the vineyards and winery. Farming organically is just the beginning; sustainability encompasses a broader perspective for Chad. He understands that giving back to the earth isn't enough; it... More Products

Geographically positioned at the western extremity of the Santa Ynez Valley within the Central Coast wine region of California, Sta. Rita Hills enjoys a unique set of climatic advantages.
