In his, John Koongsgaard, own words: “Fifth-generation Napa natives, Maggy and I began our endeavor in the 1970s planting The Judge vineyard on the Kongsgaard family land near Napa. The inaugural Kongsgaard wines came in 1996. We now produce The Judge, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon,  Syrah, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Albariño in our underground winery’”a cave dug into the volcanic rock, high on the eastern rim of the Napa Valley where we have planted a spectacular mountain vineyard. We also direct the farming under long-term contracts on several perfect acres in the Napa Carneros and near the winery. These intensely farmed, shy-bearing vineyards and our traditional low-intervention winemaking produce powerful, graceful wines’”vivid expressions of vineyard and variety. Production is limited to what we, with our son Alex, can make with our own hands.”

Nestled in the undulating hills east of Napa, Kongsgaard is a name synonymous with a deep-rooted connection to the land, a fifth-generation testament to the legacy of winemaking in Napa Valley. John and Maggy Kongsgaard initiated this vinous journey, planting the Judge vineyard to Chardonnay in the 1970s on family land that would become the cradle of their winemaking legacy. The genesis of Kongsgaard wines dates back to 1996, marked by their inaugural vintage. A labor of love, it wasn't just the inception of a winery but the manifestation of a family's dedication to the craft. The torch passed through generations, with their son Alex and winemaker Evan Frazier joining the partnership a decade later. Together, they embarked on a mission to create wines that echo the whispers of the Napa...check our brand Kongsgaard
