Crafted by renowned winemaker Celia Welch, the Keever Inspirado 2018 is a distinguished red wine, eloquently expressing the richness of Napa Valley. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, aged in French Oak barrels, this vintage resonates with the expertise behind its creation. Limited to 986 cases, this offering is as exclusive as it is exquisite.
In appearance, it pours a vibrant shade, hinting at the lively character of the wine. The nose is greeted with an intricate bouquet where fresh raspberries, fragrant basil, sweet sage, and a whisper of toasty vanilla elegantly interlace. On the palate, it enters with a fruit-forward zeal, underpinned by bright, fresh acidity and soft, juicy tannins that dance across the tongue. The texture is both vibrant and showy, ensuring a sipping experience that is both indulgent and memorable, culminating in lingering notes of fresh cherries and a delicate trace of vanilla.
Jeb Dunnuck awarded this vintage 92 points, praising its beautiful perfume of blue fruits, violets, tobacco, and earth, while Vinous matched the score, commending its plump, juicy profile with silky contours. Both critics note its readiness to be enjoyed with minimal cellaring, highlighting its supple, elegant texture and impressive balance. The Inspirado 2018 is not only approachable but also poised to develop beautifully over the next decade and beyond, making it a stellar choice for those seeking serious Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon character.

    Mel's Notes
Color:Deep ruby with a hint of purple, indicating youth and vitality.
Nose:The wine offers an enticing bouquet of ripe blueberries and fresh raspberries, underlined by floral notes of violets. Earthy undertones of tobacco leaf merge with sweet spice, while a gentle kiss of toasted vanilla completes the aromatic profile.
    Palate:
Flavor Profile: A lush tapestry of dark fruits unfolds with blueberry and raspberry flavors taking center stage, supported by subtle hints of fresh herbs like basil and sweet sage.
Body of the Wine: The Inspirado is full-bodied, reflecting the dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, yet it maintains a supple and elegant texture that makes it approachable.
Tannin Structure: Tannins are soft and juicy, providing structure without overpowering, indicative of the careful aging in French oak.
Sweetness Levels: The wine is dry, yet the ripeness of the fruit imparts a perceived sweetness that balances the profile.
Acidity Levels: Bright fresh acidity energizes the palate, enhancing the wine's vibrancy and aiding in its compatibility with food.
Food Pairings:Given the wine's robust structure and vivid acidity, it pairs splendidly with rich meat dishes such as a herb-crusted rack of lamb or a juicy ribeye steak. The vibrant fruit profile would complement a cherry-glazed pork loin, while the acidity could cut through the fat of a gourmet cheeseburger. Vegetarian options could include a wild mushroom risotto or a roasted vegetable tart, where the earthy components of the food echo the wine's underlying tobacco and earth notes.
