Aromas of deep black cherry and boysenberry fruit are underlaid by spicy vanilla flavored oak, along with supporting flavors of raspberry, plum, licorice, and chocolate. The wine has a well-constructed young palate, with fruit crammed into the structure to form an intense ripe boysenberry center.
The Barrel Blend is put together with the help of Kyle Knox, a great surfer and a wine professional, now with his own distributorship, who loved the idea of ‘being in the barrel’ as both a wine term, and a surfing term. 2019 was a year with roller coaster weather and balanced wines. The Merlot reached maturity at lower Brix numbers, and as usual we added Syrah, Petit Sirah and Zinfandel for added layers of fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon was blended in for dignity, and Pinot Noir for grace. The wine knitted together early, so we expect this wine to come out of the bottle ready to provide entertainment and pleasure for years to come.

    1. VIN

The 2019 The Barrel Blend is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years, while the plum, blackberry, chocolate, mocha, and spice flavors remain vibrant. The 2019 is not super-complex, but it is tasty and very easy to like.
