Popped rose petal, raspberry bramble, wild lavender and humming bird sage flower, designs a floral chaparral  incantation. Sweet black licorice, conjures Cherry Dr. Pepper texture. 2021’s cool vintage endows vineyards with endurance, patience and grace; caressing wines of focused poise and lifted fruit. The GSM’s blend of 3 varietals from a selection of distinct sites broadens midpalate density and delivers an array of aromatic nuance.

    1. Martha Robertson

Day two brought a fantastic experience.

    2. Willian Lindstrom

Great QPR. Restrained nose at first, but opens up after 2 hours. Effervescent acidity with red fruits, cooking herbs, wood, and bramble notes. Easy to drink and hard to stop pouring.

    3. Imogene Vega

Excellent GSM blend with balanced fruit ratio and smokiness. Aged and opened up on the table, it envelops the senses. Vibrantly brooding and mineral with a stellar QPR.

    4. Sherry Ranieri

Night 2: Even better. Voluptuous without excess richness or acidity.

    5. Jessie Kopf

Impressive blend, richer and rounder with each sampling.

    6. Melissa Moriarity

Vibrant wine with red and purple fruit, feldspathic minerals, and zippy acidity.

    7. Matthew Marini

Vibrant with balanced weight, abundant blue and red fruits, harmonious finish.

    8. Gladys Tagle

Well-balanced with a crisp acidity and noticeable minerality.

    9. Hazel Gutierrez

Correctly made wine, lacks excitement. Components may be more interesting than the blend.

    10. Jonathan Strohmeyer

      Aged, yet still delightful.

    11. Roberto West

Needs aging, initial taste is sugary, improves after an hour.

    12. Thomas Cruz

      Skillful, everyday dinner wine.

    13. Robyn Dollar

Air it out, enjoy the wine.

    14. Melvin Hill

Medium-full bodied Rhone blend with red fruit, spice, black cherry, raspberry, and pepper finish. Easy to drink.

    15. Christopher Davis

Taste CA Wines by Zac Wasserman is a well-balanced blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. Notes of cherries and toast with a tangy sweetness and slight bitterness to the dusty tannins. Deserves aging through 2020 and drinking into 2024. 92 pts Dunnuck. $21.99.

    16. Dale Murphy

luscious ripe black fruit, medium bodied, a bit short on the finish, drinking well now.

    17. Grover Brown

Drinkable for $17, too sweet for me. Better for big parties with less discerning guests.

    18. Caren Vinton

Tannins too high now, but will mellow with age. Blueberries and violets present.

    19. Clyde Strong

Rose red with aromas of strawberry jam, earth, and cinnamon. Medium-bodied with raspberry, white pepper, and tannins. Slightly sweet with a red fruit finish. Good for the price.

    20. Benjamin Cross

Dark fruit and black pepper notes, delicious!

    21. Jeffrey Hanson

Well-crafted wine, but requires 2-3 years to soften tannins.

    22. Melonie Grizzel

Impressive young wine, needs bottle aging but great value.

    23. Stephen Senft

’19 Margery M5 better than this brooding wine.

    24. Alma Thom

Dark ruby in color with juicy and aromatic notes of raspberry, blackberry, wild game, pepper, fennel, tar, clay, and wet leaves. Low tannin initially but finish persists nicely. Medium acidity and light to medium bodied.

    25. Jean Meyer

Great value bottle with explosive grenache fruit. Lovely GSM, not too complex.

    26. Darrick Windly

Enjoyable Rhone blend with red fruit flavors and a smooth texture. Finish can improve with age.

The only barrel sample I was able to taste, the 2021 GSM Santa Barbara County showed beautifully, and if this wine is any indication, this estate didn’t miss a beat in 2021. Giving up pretty blue fruits, peppery herbs, and sappy flower nuances, it’s medium to full-bodied, has terrific tannins, and an elegant yet textured style that will drink nicely right out of the gate.

    28. VIN

The 2021 GSM is a promising wine. Deep and beautifully layered in the glass, with terrific vibrancy, the GSM is marked by gorgeous purity in its red/purplish fruit and terrific balance. It is the only 2021 that had been racked at the time of my visit, but also a wine that portends well for the vintage if its representative of quality across the range.

    Grenache - Mourvedre - Syrah
The Grenache - Mourvedre - Syrah grape varietal, commonly referred to as GSM, is a classic and full-bodied blend that finds its origins in the southern Rhône region of France, notably in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This blend comprises three distinct grape varieties, each contributing its unique characteristics to the resulting wine. Grenache and Syrah are well-known players in the Rhône Valley, and in this trio, they are accompanied by the slightly lesser-known Mourvedre. This blend has transcended its French roots and gained popularity in the New World wine regions, particularly in Australia and California, where it has produced highly acclaimed examples. The Mediterranean coast serves as the ancestral home for all three grape varieties. Grenache, with its spice, red fruit, and alcohol,...Please check Grenache - Mourvedre - Syrah for more information
    Santa Barbara County

Santa Barbara County, tucked away at the southern terminus of California's Central Coast, is a storied wine region, its roots tracing back to 1782. This historic area has become a prominent figure in the wine world, and its cinematic exposure in the 2004 film "Sideways" further bolstered its fame. The geographical layout, with the Pacific Ocean cradling its southern and western borders, contributes to a rich tapestry of landscapes, comprising coastal hills and river valleys. This geographical diversity results in a myriad of terroirs, each imparting a unique signature to the county's viticultural output.
