The wine displays a deep ruby robe with a light shade of dark purple which will fade with time. The nose is on the spices, thyme, bread crumbs, roasted onion’¦ at every nose you will find other perfumes’¦ do not worry, you are not sick, it’s simply that a good Chateauneuf evolves in the glass because of their high complexity. In the mouth, it’s the roundness which predominates and invades progressively the palate’¦a walk in the forest, with scents of mushrooms, then passage in the kitchen with aromas of roasting, of grilled, of smoke, of meat marinade’¦but all of this without any aggressivity, on the opposite, tannins are silky, roundness, smoothness, velvet’¦ For a complete happiness, it would be preferable to forget a little this bottle in your cellar’¦because this wine has not yet totally revealed himself at that time’¦
To drink around 18/19°C on small or big game, roasted or pickled and/or on well ripened cheese.

Olives, garrigue and kirsch define the nose. The wine is medium bodied, soft, forward, fresh and ready to go with its early drinking, black raspberry, herb and kirsch character. Drink from 2022-2030.

    3. Justin Craven

Strong nose with powerful acetone burn. Can smell the CNDP in the background Strong tannins that over power the underlying berrys and old leather. I’m hoping this is young and that it will improve a lot with age. After two hours it opened up a lot. Flavours came through and tannins settled down into it the back taste. I will buy more and let them lie down for a few years.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape from Avril checks in as 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre. It has a perfumed nose of Bing cherries, candied violets, and ground pepper, as well as some sappy floral background nuances. Nicely textured on the palate, it’s medium-bodied, has ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It’s a beautiful, elegant wine that has lots to love.

45% Grenache Blanc, 25% Roussanne, 15% Bourboulenc, 15% Clairette. Grassy, green-apple aroma and flavour. Prominent acidity that is sharp and aggressive. Rather astringent finish.

    Grenache - Mourvedre - Syrah
The Grenache - Mourvedre - Syrah grape varietal, commonly referred to as GSM, is a classic and full-bodied blend that finds its origins in the southern Rhône region of France, notably in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This blend comprises three distinct grape varieties, each contributing its unique characteristics to the resulting wine. Grenache and Syrah are well-known players in the Rhône Valley, and in this trio, they are accompanied by the slightly lesser-known Mourvedre. This blend has transcended its French roots and gained popularity in the New World wine regions, particularly in Australia and California, where it has produced highly acclaimed examples.
