Chateau Montelena Zinfandel 2018 is a testament to the artistry of Winemaker Matt Crafton, embodying the cyclical nature of viticulture and the renewed optimism that each growing year brings. This vintage marks the triumphant return of their Estate Zinfandel after five years of meticulous vineyard care and replanting. In the glass, it presents an iridescent play of colors, capturing the eye and hinting at the wine’s complexity. The aroma is a delightful journey, starting with ripe raspberry and cranberry notes, shifting towards bold blackberry jam, hoisin, and savory herbs, culminating in a quintessential Montelena bouquet.

On the palate, this Zinfandel showcases elegance, with laser-focused acidity seamlessly melding with strawberry, sweet baking spices, dried cherry, and earthy nuances. Soft tannins provide structure without overshadowing the candied fruit, resulting in a medium-bodied wine with depth. Aged for 16 months in a blend of French, Irish, and American oak, with 17% new oak, it attains a refined complexity. Chateau Montelena Zinfandel 2018 is not just a wine; it’s an embodiment of the vineyard’s commitment to quality and a return to their Zinfandel roots. Versatile and celebratory, it pairs gracefully with diverse culinary delights, inviting you to savor the beauty of this vintage.
