The Arietta H Block Red Wine 2018 is a magnificent Bordeaux-style blend that showcases the essence of Napa Valley’s Hudson Vineyards. Crafted by renowned winemaker Andy Erickson, this wine is a harmonious marriage of 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot, echoing the elegance of Right Bank Bordeaux.

In the glass, it presents a deep, inviting hue that hints at its complexity. On the nose, the wine exudes an aromatic bouquet of red raspberry, nutmeg, cumin, licorice, and subtle oak notes. The aroma is effusive and inviting, promising a sensory journey.

Upon tasting, the Arietta H Block reveals its energetic and rich character. Ripe fruit flavors dance across the palate, accompanied by complex spice notes that add layers of depth. The wine’s structure and weight hint at its exceptional aging potential, poised to evolve gracefully over the decades.

Aged for twenty months in 100% new French oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration, this wine encapsulates the true essence of its terroir. The 2018 vintage stands as a testament to the outstanding growing season, resulting in a compelling and hedonistic wine.

This is such a spectacular showcase of 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot, both from Hudson Vineyards in Carneros. Spicy in nutmeg and clove, with red and black currant layered throughout, it finishes on accents of cedar, violet and crushed rock. Best from 2028–2038. Cellar Selection.

A wine that needs a few years of bottle age, the 2018 Red Wine H Block Hudson Vineyards checks in as 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot and offers a relatively reserved yet potential-laced bouquet of red and black fruits, chocolate, toasted spices, and dried tobacco. These carry to a full-bodied, concentrated, textured wine with plenty of tannins, rock-solid overall balance, and a great finish. It opens up with time in the glass, but the smart money is on hiding bottles for 2-4 years, and it should evolve for 15 years thereafter.
