Alexander Valley Vineyards proudly presents the Alexander Valley Cyrus 2017, a remarkable wine that pays homage to the valley’s namesake, Cyrus Alexander, and showcases the exceptional vintage of 2017. Crafted by the talented winemaker Kevin Hall, this wine is a testament to the dedication and expertise that goes into every bottle produced by the vineyard.

The Alexander Valley Cyrus 2017 is immediately captivating with its rich, dark purple hue, a prelude to the depth and complexity that awaits. Kevin Hall, alongside his team, has meticulously blended Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot to create this masterful expression of the Alexander Valley’s terroir.

The wine’s aroma is a lush tapestry of cassis, black cherry, and boysenberry, intertwined with hints of cedar, dark chocolate, toasty oak, and vanilla. These scents hint at the concentration and layered complexity of the blend, inviting the taster to delve deeper.

Upon tasting, the Alexander Valley Cyrus unfolds its lush, structured palate, balancing dark fruit flavors of cassis and black cherry with the luxurious undertones of dark chocolate. Notes of barrel spice and cardamom add an exotic warmth, enhancing the wine’s complexity. With every sip, the wine continues to evolve in the glass, suggesting its potential for further development and complexity with additional cellar aging.

The 2017 vintage was one of contrasts, with ample early rainfall followed by a warm spring and heat spikes throughout the summer. This climatic dance resulted in a harvest that spanned 33 days, with each lot fermented and aged separately to showcase the vintage’s unique character.

After 12 months of separate aging, the lots were blended and then aged for an additional 12 months in French oak barrels, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. The result is a seamless blend that stands as a tribute to Cyrus Alexander and the vibrant history of Alexander Valley, CA.

The critical acclaim for Alexander Valley Cyrus 2017 speaks volumes about its quality and appeal. Garnering high scores from respected sources such as The Somm Journal, Beverage Dynamics, Wine Enthusiast, and James Suckling, this wine has also impressed at competitions, winning a Double Gold

Medal at the Hilton Head Island International Wine Competition and a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Such accolades underscore the wine’s exceptional quality and the esteem in which it is held by wine enthusiasts and critics alike.

Incorporating brand phrases such as “alexander wine,” “cyrus wine,” “cyrus napa,” “cyrus sonoma,” and “alexander valley ca,” among others, not only highlights the wine’s origins and the vineyard’s commitment to excellence but also pays homage to the legacy of Cyrus Alexander.

From “cyrus to alexander,” this wine encapsulates the essence of the region, the dedication of Alexander Valley Vineyards, and the storied history that continues to inspire winemaking today.

As the Alexander Valley Cyrus 2017 sits in your glass, it’s more than just a wine; it’s a journey through time, a celebration of heritage, and a testament to the art of winemaking.

With every bottle of Cyrus, Alexander Valley Vineyards continues to honor the legacy of Cyrus Alexander and the bright, bountiful land he once called “the brightest and best spot in the world.”

The Cyrus Geyserville and Cyrus Healdsburg, CA, areas are known for their stunning wine country vistas, especially near the Mayacamas Mountains, where Alexander Valley Vineyards has crafted the Cyrus 2016 wines and 2017 wines. These creations, including the True Oak Red Blend, have garnered glowing reviews for their smooth texture, excellent balance, and long structured finish.

Here is a big, bold wine that's comfortable in its own skin. It draws from a deep well of dark berries, well-integrated oak spices and accents of tobacco and singed herbs for great breadth and complexity. While full bodied and rather tannic, those tannins are silky and the wine feels relaxed as you sip. Best through 2030. — Jim Gordon

Rich cassis, blackberries, sandalwood and chili chocolate on the nose followed by a smoothly rendered palate with juicy and supple fruit. Tight and fine-grained, with a lengthy, fruit-expressive finish. 58% cabernet sauvignon, 21% merlot, 16% cabernet franc, 3% petit verdot and 2% malbec.

5 classic varietals for a Bordeaux blend are selected form 9 of their best estate lots. Each lot was fermented and aged separately for 12 months, then aged an additional 12 months after the blending process in French oak. The result is a beguiling puzzle that pulls you in all the right directions…unctuous, complex, rich and balanced…all perfectly done and in complete harmony. Flavors of dark chocolate, black fruits compliment the rich oak and vanilla notes. Saved this for a petite filet dinner, with garlic machers and cream spinach…who needs dessert!
