Wine Description

WeatherEye Vineyards, located in the Red Mountain appellations of Washington, presents their exceptional WeatherEye Cabernet Sauvignon 2020. Crafted by the talented winemaker Todd Alexander, this wine showcases the epitome of a classic Red Mountain Cabernet.

In the glass, this wine displays a deep, rich dark purple core with a vibrant neon raspberry rim, enticing the senses from the very first glance. The aromas are pronounced and captivating, exuding an intoxicating bouquet of blue plums, wild huckleberries, crushed blackberry, cassis, and vanilla bean. Delicate undertones of cedary herbs, dried sagebrush, tobacco leaf, and melted chocolate further enhance the aromatic profile.

On the palate, the WeatherEye Estate Cabernet Sauvignon reveals its power and depth. This full-bodied wine coats the mouth with flavors of cassis, perfectly integrated graphite, and lead pencil. The impeccable balance and ripe tannins contribute to its remarkable structure and elegance. The finish is grippy, suggesting that the tannins will benefit from a few years of aging to soften and fully integrate. As you savor each sip, a delightful lime zest note emerges at the back of the palate, adding an unexpected yet incredible dimension to the wine’s complexity.

Notably acclaimed by wine experts, the International Wine Report awarded this vintage an impressive 98 points, while Jeb Dunnuck bestowed it with a remarkable 96 points. Highly recommended as an editor’s choice, this WeatherEye Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 promises a spectacular evolution with time. Patience is advised, as allowing this wine to age for at least two years will unlock its full potential.

From its organic farming practices to the meticulous vinification process, this wine represents the dedication and expertise of WeatherEye Vineyards and winemaker Todd Alexander. With its exceptional quality, this Cabernet Sauvignon stands among the finest offerings in the state, making it a must-try for wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.

Another stunning wine from the team at Weathereye. This is a classic Red Mountain Cabernet perfected by winemaker Todd Alexander. Deep, rich dark purple cored with a neon raspberry rim, the nose absolutely pops from the glass with aromas of blue plums, wild huckleberries, crushed blackberry, cassis, vanilla bean, cedary herbs, dried sagebrush, tobacco leaf, and melted chocolate. Grippy on the finish, the tannins need a few years to soften up, but you can feel the potential of the wine with each sip. I love the lime zest note you get at the very back of your palate - it’s incredible. Please give yourself at least 2 years to open this up because it’s going to be spectacular with time. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.

Weathereye Vineyard, situated on the windswept ridgeline of Red Mountain in Washington State's Red Mountain AVA, has quickly established itself as a notable winery in the region. Founded by Cameron Myhrvold in 2004, the vineyard covers 30 acres and is dedicated to growing Rhône, Bordeaux, and Spanish grape varieties. The unique aspect of WeatherEye lies in its meticulous vineyard management. The team has designed and managed the vineyard as a collection of "micro-blocks," adapting trellising methods and densities to match the diverse soils, topography, and exposures of the site. This approach, inspired by traditional techniques from France's Rhône Valley, enhances the character and distinctiveness of their fruit and wines. Under the guidance of vineyard manager Ryan Johnson, who... Read More
Cabernet Sauvignon is a red grape varietal that is widely regarded as one of the world's most popular and highly valued wine grapes. The wine made from this grape is known for its intense flavor, high tannin content, and longevity. The grape is known for its thick skin, which helps it to withstand harsh weather conditions, and its small berries, which contribute to its concentrated flavor. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are typically harvested in the late fall, when the grapes have reached their optimal... Read More
