Troublemaker Wine, a Red Blend is crafted by Austin Hope at Hope Family Wines, showcases the distinctive flavors of Paso Robles’ renowned growing region. This blend is an artful composition of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Zinfandel, each varietal contributing its unique characteristics to create a harmonious and complex wine.

With its deep, opaque purple hue, Troublemaker Blend 16 captivates the eye, hinting at the richness that awaits. The nose bursts with the luscious aromas of jammy boysenberry and blackberry, intertwined with a fresh hint of raspberry. These fruit-forward notes carry through to the palate, accompanied by underlying tones of peppercorns, dried tobacco, and roasted coffee.

As the wine unfolds on the tongue, velvety tannins and balancing acidity harmoniously accentuate the vibrant fruit character of this blend. The sweet and bright red fruit flavors of Grenache dance with the rustic and lively flavors of Mourvèdre, while the signature zing of Zinfandel rounds out the blend. The backbone of the wine, Syrah, sets the stage for a fruit-forward style and a full-bodied experience, while Petite Sirah lends its depth to the deep ruby color.

Troublemaker Red Blend is a testament to the exceptional vineyards that bear its fruit. These vineyards, located on the eastern edge of the Pomar District and on the outskirts of the Arroyo Grande Valley, reside on the edge of civilization, where sub-AVAs and growing regions converge along the Central Coast. There are even whispers that Austin Hope’s personal vineyard might find its way into this exquisite blend.

One such vineyard, tucked away in a remote valley southeast of Arroyo Grande, is home to a wild and untamed Syrah vineyard. Here, amidst the oak forests, the land is ruled by deer, snakes, bears, and even mountain lions. The treacherous journey to this vineyard, far from cellphone range, is an adventure in itself. It is a humbling reminder that we are merely farming the land that belongs to these majestic creatures.

Troublemaker Red Blend, with its captivating colors, alluring aromas, and vibrant flavors, embodies the spirit of the vineyards it hails from. It is a wine that embraces the wildness and beauty of its surroundings, offering a memorable tasting experience that lingers on the palate and leaves a lasting impression.
