Wine Description

The 2018 TOR Cabernet Sauvignon Cimarossa Vineyard from Howell Mountain, Napa Valley shows the tremendous dark fruit of the vintage. As always this is the most ‘reserved’ cabernet of the line up and just screams for time in the cellar or decanter to allow it to show its best. The tannins in the 2018 Cimarossa are more sweet than in previous vintages (think more like 2016). Black fruit, creosote and lots of deep, dark structure mark this gorgeous 2018 Howell Mountain Cabernet.

The 2018 Cimarossa Cabernet Sauvignon is an utterly fabulous release from Tor in this vintage. The Cabernet was sourced only from Block 10 and spent twenty months in 100% Darnajou French oak barrels. It begins with absolutely stunning aromas of aromas of blackberries, black cherries and black plums which come together with crème de cassis, forrest herbs, licorice and loamy notes that all burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, well-structured and concentrated, displaying plush layers gorgeous ripe dark fruits that continue to resonate though the ultra-long finish. This is another stunning wine from Tor which is striking today, but also destined for a marvelous future.

Cabernet Sauvignon is a hybrid grape, the result of a cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, which are both native to the Bordeaux region of France. The grape is known for its thick skin, which helps it to withstand harsh weather conditions, and its small berries, which contribute to its concentrated flavor. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are typically harvested in the late fall, when the grapes have reached their optimal... Read More
