1 review for Schrader Heritage Clone To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Only the second vintage of this new label for Schrader, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Mondavi Heritage Clone To Kalon Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon coming from a single block in the southern part of Mondavi’s section of To Kalon vineyard. The “Heritage Clone”, a.k.a. clone 39, is pretty much exclusive to Mondavi To Kalon, with the exception of some cuttings Robert Mondavi may have given out. Deep purple-black in color, it comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of stewed black cherries, blackcurrant cordial and blueberry pie with suggestions of Chinese five spice, molten chocolate, aniseed and fragrant earth. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of rich, opulent black fruit preserves flavors, supported by plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and perfumed. (Tasted as a barrel sample.)
