Brimming with high-toned, youthful aromatics, 2021 Sandhi Pinot Noir ‘Sta. Rita Hills’ leads with crunchy red fruits of pomegranate, wild strawberry, and sun-warmed raspberry. The exuberantly fruited nose is undergirded with orange zest, black tea, tea rose, and faint hints of clove and spice. The bright, vivacious palate carries a taut mineral streak through to a lengthy finish lifting the red fruit notes with a whisper of anise.

1 review for Sandhi Pinot Noir ‘Sta. Rita Hills’ 2021

  1. WA

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills has a medium ruby color and pretty scents of cinnamon stick, aniseed, iron, underbrush and charcuterie with a core of red cherries and cranberries. Medium-bodied yet very concentrated, it has a powdery frame, sparks of refreshing acidity and a very long, graphite-driven finish. Precise and detailed, it deserves to spend another 2-3 years in bottle.

This grape varietal is celebrated for its tightly clustered, pinecone-shaped bunches of fruit. It has a reputation for being a delicate and challenging grape to cultivate and transform into wine, but it yields some of the most highly prized and expressive wines in the world. 2. Sta Rita Hills

The Sta. Rita Hills wine region, recognized as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) since July 2001, boasts a storied past steeped in viticultural heritage. Initially christened as Santa Rita Hills, the area underwent a rebranding to Sta. Rita Hills in 2006, following a dispute with Vina Santa Rita, a prominent Chilean winery. Spanning roughly 14,000 hectares (36,000 acres), this AVA primarily cultivates Pinot Noir, alongside other varietals like Chardonnay, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and more. Geographically positioned at the western extremity of the Santa Ynez Valley within the Central Coast wine region of California, Sta. Rita Hills enjoys a unique set of climatic advantages.
