Wine Description

In the glass, the wine presents with a strikingly deep dark ruby color with inky purple accents, immediately followed an astonishingly inviting perfume of black cherries, cassis, plumbs, baking spice, and chocolate. The exquisite aromatics dovetail onto the palate with sumptuous and layered waves of concentrated chocolate covered blue fruits that opulently coat your mouth with a velvety symphony of silky texture and flamboyant complexities.  The wine is impeccably balanced, with optimal levels of density and concentration and crescendos into a luxuriously long and graceful finish that remains with you for over 90 seconds.

  1. WA

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III is Perchance’s debut offering, and what a beauty it is. From winemaker Mike Smith, it offers lovely delicate florals and leafiness that add a sense of lightness and complexity to the cassis and cherry fruit, then combine seamlessly with bass notes of cedar and dusty earth. Full-bodied yet silky, with fine-grained tannins and a long, elegant finish, it’s hard to find anything wrong with this superb effort.

  2. JD

You have to give winemaker Mike Smith credit, the guy makes brilliant wines wherever he goes. This was my first chance tasting this new project and these are both impressive wines. There are only 341 cases of the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, which hails from a historic site Rutherford and was brought up in 85% new French oak. Its dense purple hue is followed by rich notes of crème de cassis, mulled black cherries, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and a hint of cedar. These carry to a full-bodied, incredibly seamless 2018 with no hard edges, flawless balance, and ripe, velvety tannins. It opens up with time in the glass, and while already complex and enjoyable, it’s going to evolve for 20-25 years in cold cellars. It’s a gorgeous wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon is a red grape varietal that is widely regarded as one of the world's most popular and highly valued wine grapes. This grape is grown in many regions around the world, including France, the United States, Australia, Chile, and Argentina. The wine made from this grape is known for its intense flavor, high tannin content, and longevity. Cabernet Sauvignon is a hybrid grape, the result of a cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, which are both native to the Bordeaux region of France. The grape is known for its thick skin, which helps it to withstand harsh weather conditions, and its small berries, which contribute to its concentrated flavor.
