Wine Description
Paul Lato Matinee GSM 2020 – This exquisite fusion of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre originates from three distinguished vineyards situated within Santa Barbara County. The Grenache and Syrah components hail from the esteemed Larner and Bien Nacido Vineyards, while the Mourvedre essence emanates from the Santa Ynez Vineyard. Maturing gracefully over a span of 19 months within 500 Liter Puncheon barrels that had been employed just once before, these three grape varieties harmonize flawlessly.
Larner Grenache imparts a luscious berry aroma and fruit-forward notes on the palate. The Bien Nacido Syrah introduces a harmonious interplay of spice and delicate floral intricacies. This melodic symphony culminates with a subtle inclusion of Mourvedre, contributing its deep hue, earthy complexities, and a multifaceted culminating touch. Despite its bold and robust character, the wine’s refined and understated tannins render it an excellent accompaniment to an array of comfort dishes.

This blend comprises three distinct grape varieties, each contributing its unique characteristics to the resulting wine. Grenache and Syrah are well-known players in the Rhône Valley, and in this trio, they are accompanied by the slightly lesser-known Mourvedre. This blend has transcended its French roots and gained popularity in the New World wine regions, particularly in Australia and California, where it has produced highly acclaimed examples. The Mediterranean coast serves as the ancestral home for all three grape varieties. Grenache, with its spice, red fruit, and alcohol,...
