Wine Description
The 2019 Paradigm Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color with aromas of deep ripe fruit, black cherries, blackberry, currants, plums, savory spice, vanilla, and toasty French Oak. Aromas and flavors show nice concentration in 2019. The wine has a dense texture and mouthcoating mouthfeel. Classic Oakville Cabernet flavors similar to the aromas. Optimum ripeness leads to a lush, rich, and well-balanced wine that bodes well for age ability. Layered and interesting with a long persistent finish. A delicious offering from Paradigm.
Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc

The grape is known for its thick skin, which helps it to withstand harsh weather conditions, and its small berries, which contribute to its concentrated flavor. At $99 a bottle, I had expected a gorgeous Napa Cab. When I was told it would reward aging, I wondered: there were no discernible tannins. This wine may need time to come together or perhaps it’s just an overrated red. At any rate, it was all over the lot with almost none of the beguiling features I love in Napa Cabernets, like Blackberry and cassis flavors, cedar/pencil shavings or eucalyptus, and tannins that may range from soft-grained to abrasive. A medium-bodied, deeply-colored wine, this simply said The Emperor Has No Clothes. I will return to my usual passions: Phelps, Pine Ridge, Heitz or Chateau Montelena, thank you.

Sacrificed one to the curiosity gods for consumption over two days.Day one was very fruit forward and simple, even after 3-4 hours of air at the end of the night. By day two this wine had it all. Dry fruit, touch of tobacco and licorice, cheek coating tannins, wet granite and graphite finish. Super. Please give this some time to come together, maybe 4-5 years for me.Beautiful.
